New(not so new now!) wellies - thanks for the recommendation

Couple of years ago i needed new wellies after my beloved leather Hunter's got a hole in the leather and they decided to stop making them....now relegated to dry weather wellies

Caught a discussion on here and took the recommendation to get some Skellerup Quatros.

They have been great for both stalking and peg shooting. I've never had cold feet in them and they grip well. Apart from the mud you wouldn't know they weren't new (well maybe the little plastic clip to keep the side vent excess strapl in place which is missing).

Good for big calves (mine, not the cows) and they just work. Also cheaper than the big brands.

I know this question appears fairly regularly so just thought a two year test result might help. They're good and absolutely Ronseal.

Another convert.
Mine are 3 years old and as you say barely look used. On mine the clip has broken apart from that just superb. In fact in thick mud they are in a league of their own. Last night in mud 6" at least, sure footing and no congealed lump clinging to my boots.
These boots are simply the best

I am disappointed with my Kudu neoprene lined wellies. Bought 2nd hand on SD (albeit almost knew) and after about 10 plus years of use they have now split by the toe and let in water. They no longer make them sadly :(

Skellerup quatros 3 years beef and sheep farming stalking 3 times a week and professional pest control 6 days a week plus dog duties. Admittedly only used in the wet but I've never had a welly that comes close in longevity and so bloody comfortable!!

Agree entirely. Not the designer rubbish that's marketed now. I can't get over how good they're are in mud and the cleats don't clog at all. Also good removable insoles. I remove and dry and put warm wheat bags in the boots to dry out any moisture.

I'm about to replace my original quatros. Got mine in 2015 and have battered them he'll out of them. Still watertight but they certainly don't look new and the interior heel section has now worn away. They don't owe me a penny

I've ordered a pair and look forward to giving them a try-out.

My Solognac boots from Decathlon have lasted well, but I fancy a change to a zip-less boot and these always seem to get great reviews.

A quick follow-up on this.

I ordered my Skellerup's from Abbeydale Direct, as they had them at the best price I could find on the Internet.

The boots arrived yesterday but were slightly tight - I am a size 10.5 but ordered a pair of size 10's, on the basis Skellerup are well known for running large for their size. I called Abbeydale and, quite unusually these days, spoke to a real live person! They emailed me a return label and I had dropped the boots off at the local Post Office by late yesterday morning.

There was a knock on the front door at 07:30 this morning and the same DPD driver handed over a box containing my replacement size 11 boots. It transpires that Abbeydale had sent out the replacements to me before they had received the originals by return. Amazing service!!

If anyone else here is considering buying some Skellerup boots - or other farming and outdoor clothing - then I can wholeheartedly recommend you do so from Abbeydale Direct. I will certainly be bookmarking their website for the future.

Just replaced my first pair that I’ve had since November 2019, I’d normally get a year out of most boots so to get 4 years is quite somthing. That’s daily wear for me beef and sheep farming plus field sports plus long walks. So good I actually bought two pairs, so I have a pair kept clean and disinfected for visiting others farms and a pair that get mucky on the daily.
Agree Abbeydale are by far the best company I’ve bought bits like this from.

Chateau leather lined with full zip. Absolutely the most comfortable welly in the world. Not cheap but I have expensive tastes. On my third pair and usually get about 6 shooting seasons on 1 pair.
