Deer Hoist (Back Saver)

Good morning Comrades,
I hope you all had a great Christmas and Santa brought you some nice gifts. My gift came way before Christmas and a big thank you to @Tim.243
Now for those who don't know Tim, I alway discribe him to mates as the Chap that Engineers himself out of the S*&t he got himself into . For years I have asked Tim to fabricate me a deer hoist and it fell on deaf ears..... Little did I know Tim wanted to build himself one first and then me second in line. Well that day had finally come and one afternoon I popped over for a coffee. Tim walked to the back of my truck to have a look see and take a couple of measurements. 45 minutes later I had a 3 piece deer hoist knocked together to fit in the my truck and to side into the side of my trucks tow bar for use.

Bloody hell what a difference this hoist has made. For those that shoot deer on a regular basis and having to struggle lifting them into the back of the truck on your own would know how much a hoist would help. I have been cursing in the past trying to get big heavy deer in the back of my truck only to have to use the call a friend option......

What's nice about this hoist. Tim has thought it through and the top swivels round so you can lift the deer up any side and then swing the arm round to lower the deer in the tub on the tailgate.
I use this methode in reverse when taking the deer out aswell.

Well Timmy you have done a brilliant job once again Thank you very much. Here are a couple photo's of the hoist.

For those of you with drinks chillers, have a look at the link below of the Gambrels Tim made and they work brilliant also.

Was told Tim was a great welder and builder of items.
But wow what a great item to get.

Sorry Tim you had better top up on the wire and metal orders will be on there way and many copies being made.

Hi Werner nice write up on something that works without any faffing about, it made short work of getting them in the truck, 👍 good job all round
All the best
Phil

Tim

Was this for a Hilux ? ( looks similar to my mk7 towbar )

If so, when are you making them for mass market ( or SD market ?)

They need to be in parts to 'take down' and store in pick up bed when not in use .

cost / availability and what suitable electric hoist would be a match in heaven ???????

Not sure what tow bar he has but yes a Hlux it is 5mm wall, I shimmed a bit of 100x50 to fit his box section with a bit of clearance (2/3mm) so 57/58 as it was 60. Same for the 100
50x50x3 box and a bit of tube for the box so used what was to hand, that is scarfed into the short piece of box.
Same for the jib, 10mm bar tension brace 10mm for the lifting eye and cord dog.
His tub is 55 inside so made it 53 and added the height via the jib.
Sorry not making them for the mass market but can explain via pm if you get stuck. :tiphat:

@Gameking - David Stretton at Donnington Deer Management has been making these for years (in a take-down form).

That's super cheap money if its up to date and galvanised , too cheap tbf regards how steel prices have been

Looks a great bit of kit, but the new hilux have changed their tow bar configuration 🙃🙄
Yeah They have and also changed the price tag that goes along with the change LOL. Tim is great at doing bespoke fabrications what this hoist is. Made to fit the MK7 Hilux bumper 👍
