Hi all,

Just a quick introduction. I live in Co. Dublin, Ireland and I haven't shot a rifle or been hunting since I was a kid (more than 25 yrs ago, small game mostly with my Marlin Paposse) but thought I'd get back into in now that I have more time on my hands. I have a day job but my real passion is dogs and I train working line Malinois for dog sports and personal protection. Currently working with a 2 year old male who will go out to stud soon with any luck. I have yet to purchase a rifle here in Ireland but I am on the hunt (pun) for one now. Hoping to glean some great information on this forum.

Regards,

malinois eh , at least you have a good tracking dog

Yep, he's an excellent tracker. He just won't give up! I've watched him search for a scented obect hidden in a field with high grass and brush in the rain for over 30 minutes until he found it. He was thrilled...i was wet and miserable.

Welcome aboard! Kildare man myself!

Kildare! We're practically neighbors. Any suggestions on the best way to approach a farmer for permission to shoot in his field? I'm preparing to apply for my gun license and need two letters of premission from land owners. Should I offer them some of the spoils?
