Any recommendations for 22 subsonic rimfire ammunition these days. Will need to buy a new batch shortly. Have been using Eley subs but found an unacceptable number of misfires. Mainly for shooting rabbits. Thanks

RWS are pretty good in lead

Have come away from CCI very poor all round

Norma copper segmented only after some considerable testing of different makes they have been the most accurate and fit for purpose

rws or norma, they come out of the same factory. Can't remember having a dud
i have only experienced it personally once and for years i shot hundreds a week . but its a real thing and the only 100% way would be to fire off everything made, which would not be helpful . Remember the the HMR issues a few years back ? It all comes with details the manufacturers can trace and collate .
Nothing can be made 100% a 100% of the time .

SK Standard Plus (yellow box) is my choice for my Sako Finnfire Varmint.

It gives me ~1.5 MOA off the bench, 1027fps (barrel shortened to 18”) and an SD of 14.1

I’ve only ever shot one bunny with it, but with a head shot I doubt whether a rabbit would know the difference between SP and HP.

maximus otter

If only SK made a subsonic HP. Rest of their offerings are top notch.
They did ! Likely they are just not selling them into the UK, likely it clashes with a more profitable product in the importers portfolio. I shot them for years after Lapua subs ( the ones with the picture of the rat on the box )
UK firearms / ammo importers are of course primarily after making the biggest profit and fastest turnover per quarter

Yerr, sk subsonic hollow points. I used to use them a lot but can’t get them any more.
Still got a few sk high velocity hollow points left but they seem to have disappeared now. The sk hollow point subs were accurate alright but they were a bit on the loud side (for subs) and weren’t the best for expansion in my experience of them.

As above. I often try different sub sonic HP when I'm down the range when I find something new and still find Eley ss work best in my CZ455.

What rifle are you using? The CZ range are very prone to misfiring if the bolts aren't cleaned now and then.

This is five shots Eley sshp at 50m last Friday. Not bad for a light sporter.

Yep, these are really accurate in my Finnfire II. I still have an unopened brick in my ammo safe :)

Cheers

Have a look at stuff not labelled sub-sonic, after all sub sonic just means slower than the speed of sound i.e less that 343 m/s or 1125 fps (Yes this odes vary).
Most, but not all, .22 is subsonic, the main exceptions being the high velocity and long range choices though these are not all above mach 1.
