Anyone else bury their heads instead of boiling them ?
I tried it with this little 4 pointer I shot last summer - just dug it up and it’s turned out ok.
No skinning or jet washing just cut it off and buried it.

BUT, the water is full of flesh eating bugs and is therefore very dangerous. Don't go anywhere near it without waterproof gloves on and be very careful with disposing of the water. Don't let your pets anywhere near it either! There's a well known taxidermist who ended up in hospital on a drip twice after being careless with it!Dangle it in a bucket of water to macerate then you have a have more control over where you do it and less staining that needs bleaching away.
I'd never go back to boiling now as this method is much easier and more gentle on the small skull bones and a lot harder to mess up.
Sometimes I wonder how I'm still alive.BUT, the water is full of flesh eating bugs and is therefore very dangerous. Tough as old boots I reckon? I suspect that your workmans hands are like buffalo hide and nothing is getting through. Some of us suffer more with paper cuts than knife cuts!Sometimes I wonder how I'm still alive.

Usually sand? I thought the usual was their own behinds!A lot of people bury their own heads, usually in sand.
Not so sure about doing it with deer heads though.
Immunosuppressed, supposedly. But thankfully not seen much evidence of it!!!Tough as old boots I reckon? I suspect that your workmans hands are like buffalo hide and nothing is getting through.
