I posted it to show the benefit of the police being armed as I believe they should all be, but it is an opinion. Policing by consent which I prefer has it seems gone out of the window nowadays even Aus and NZ police are armed now.

whilst the policeman was in the process of detaining the victim the knifeman stabbed the policeman numerous times before one of his colleagues finally shot the knifeman.

The police in Australia have always been armed.
I may be wrong but I understand that the police in New Zealand are not usually armed but have access to firearms if required.

Forgive the re-post, but it reminded me of this:-


Was lucky enough to be in Australia 2003 for the Rugby World Cup.

After one match the crowd (well behaved - it was Rugby) poured out of the stadium. Outside, the traffic was being controlled by one solitary (dismounted) Motor Cycle Cop - he controlled all vehicular and pedestrian traffic with the majestic and almost poetical sweeps (particular to Traffic Officers) of his arms.

I found myself alongside him waiting (along with hundreds of others) for his permission to cross.

I said, "You sure you can manage all of these people by yourself?"

He did not take his eyes off his job but tapped his sidearm and said:-

"Yes mate. Just me - Officer Glock and his fifty-four 9mm buddies".

There’s no pleasing some people… Police are always judged by YouTube these days, which will be the death of policing.

I just checked and there are almost 50,000 Muslim's living in Mannheim there is even a quarter there called little Istanbul so it seems this guy that was attacked was really pulling the tigers tail. Spouting a rivers of blood type rhetoric.

Actually it gives everyone an insight into how quickly and how much carnage one man with a knife can create in a split second also how difficult it is to defend yourself in that situation.
Quite an enlightening video.
