Bergara B14 Crest Carbon

Hey everyone,

Wondering if anyone is rocking the Bergara B14 Crest.

Just seen an update that they also do it in .243 now which might make it a good all round rifle for myself.

Any experiences, any opinions after having handled one or preferably shot one too?

Cheers

I have one in 6.5 Creedmoor, I am very pleased with it. I previously had a B14 HMR, the crest it much lighter and nicer to handle. It is giving groups of 1/2 MOA with home loads I had left over from the HMR.

I’ve taken off the muzzle break and am using an Atec H2 instead. It is a little jumpy without a muzzle break or moderator.

I imagine the barrel and action is the same as the normal B14 and if that’s the case my 243 B14 is the best rifle I have ever owned. Shoot nearly anything accurately.

Hey K_H, thanks for that!
I was worried the Rifle would have too much of a kick and recoil due to the lightweight stock of course which is why I don't think I would get one as a .308 but as a .243 I was hoping it should be ok.

How are you finding the recoil, can you return to target quickly to take a second shot if needed or is it such a jump you have to start searching?

I do believe it is, yes!
I would not go for the newer version with the carbon fibre wrapped barrel tbh, I like the fluted cerakote one too much.

How do you find the recoild on your .243 although it will be marginally less than it would be with a carbon stock I guess

I don’t really notice it if im honest. I have the B14 Wilderness thimbhole with fluted barrel in 6.5CM and again has very little recoil.
The wilderness if nice and light if they did that in 243
Edit just checked and they do that in 243 also.

I don’t find the recoil an issue with a moderator or the factory muzzle brake, I can easily return to target. I used it without either whilst running some loads over a chronograph and found it jumpier than I would like.

I like the look of the B14 Extreme Sierra in .223, will be looking to get my hands on one to see how it fits. Already have B14 6.5CM and B14r actions and HMR and BMP stocks. It would be rude not to have a threesome

Awesome guys, thanks for sharing. I think I’m sold on one in .243
Wondering if they will have some at the BSS in two weeks time to have a fiddle with

they had.checket it yesterday. looks nice and light rifle. anyone think it would be good atalking rifle in 30-06 ?

Saw it there too, stunning rifle and insanely good value for money!
The grip is really comfortable but I would say nothing for small hands.

It was a very close toss up between the Sako and the B14 Crest both as the Carbon version. I ended up buying the Sako yesterday simply because of how it fit me personally, I wouldn’t have hesitated on a B14 either though if I wouldn’t have had a good deal on the Sako.

I had a good look myself. A really lovely rifle. But, as much as I liked it, I wasn’t a fan of the wide palm swell. I couldn’t get comfortable with the grip, felt as if you were cupping, instead of gripping the stock. But we as the all different.

I was however very taken with the Extreme Hunter. A really small compact set up on a 18inch barrel.

I handled it at the show and was impressed with the weight difference between the non carbon barrel and carbon barrel.

Any real life experiences from .243 Bergara Carbon Crest owners?

I fancy one as a fox/ back up deer rifle and am keen to hear how they perform and what factory ammunition seems to suit it.

Thanks

I would like to know the same, on paper they offer a lot for the money and would tick most boxes for a nice all rounder

I have the 7prc and got to say I love it. I reload for mine so can’t say what factory ammo it likes.
