Boots for beating

Went beating yesterday for the first time this season & found out that both my boots (not wellies) had a leak. I’ve had them 3 years & have looked after them but obviously not well enough, can anyone recommend a decent pair?

Look at good solid single piece leather walking boots. Less stitching less chance of leaking and falling apart. Also wear decent leggings and be prepared to replace every other season if you walk though brambles (unless like some fairy beaters go round them) personally I'd avoid "shooting/hunting" type, the labels are expensive

Get a dog and then you don’t need to go through the brambles, go around and your boots last longer

I’ve seen good and bad reviews for just about every pair of boots out there. I think Crispi seem to come out on top though. I’ve had a pair of Dedito Moreland boots for around 18 months and I’ve been happy with them. Dry feet and comfortable.

Harkila have a poor reputation, not sure if they will recover from as far as their footwear goes. I was with a chap last weekend with a pair of Harkila boots with soles coming off, i suggested he return them.

Iv had most of the so called topend boots and hand on Hart the best todate have been a pair of Northridge from go outdoors had them for 6 yrs and there cut and scratched to death still never had wet feet or blisters as for waterproofing them GT85 or WD40 lol

Dedito Moorland high leg boots.

Very comfortable, and have a armored coating so much more resistant to brambles and the hidden strands of barbed wire you always find. RRp around £235 from memory, but you may be able to get them cheaper Had mine almost 2.5 yrs now and use them for beating twice a week, for dog walks and for stalking as well. Still going strong and cannot fault them.

Originally looking at Meindl Dovre extremes, but there have been some issues with the glue used for holding the soles together, so a lot have been recalled and the price tag is pretty hefty.

Regards,

Sandy
