Land Rover Discovery Sport

Hi all,

My discovery sport in being very strange. When I turn my headlights off they turn on, when i turn them on they turn off, they also arent working on my auto settings.

I dont want to see comments saying buy a new car, shitty land rover etc. I just want to see if anyone else has had this same issue, or may know what to look for.

I have checked all fuses and relays and they seem fine.

Thanks

Tom

water ingress into either the passenger foot well fuse box or the engine fuse box, check fuse number 20 or the relay for the light switch, also the indicator stork can short out messing with the head lights
I have just gone out and checked the fuses and they are all good and no water ingress.

Is there a way of figuring out if the relays are f***ed?

I will have a look for the indicator stuff tomorrow

Love the vehicle and it’s proven very good for my stalking/family needs but staring in the teeth of engine removal for timing chain stretch - will find out tomorrow morning. Massive damper on an otherwise great vehicle:( Google Ingenium engine if unaware.

They are run by computers hence the 3pin reset.

Don't later LR have modules for working different systems on the vehicle?
There maybe a lighting module that is playing up or not earthing adequately.

The Ingenium timing chain was uprated in 2019, so at least the new ones should last, I beleive the plastic runner may have been improved at this time.

Sadly, the excessive oil change interval, the DPF regen oil dilution issue and the design are still contributing to failures on recent models - there was a 2022 with 45k on the FB post this morning. Frankly, as a Ceng, its a pig of a design but expecting an oil to do 20k with this arrangement just isn't logical.

If they are working alternately/intermittently it won’t be fuse related issue if it was fuse they just wouldn’t work. On the LR forums there is some stuf on there re switch failing

If you have a multimeter, you can test resistances on the relay which would tell you if it's f'ed or not. 0 ohms = probably f'ed

Edit: seen you've "solved" your issue
