22ppc-6ppc

A pal has a high quality target build single shot 22ppc. We were pinging small rocks at over 700 yards with it running 52gr Bergers, very impressive.

I've got a 6mm ppc factory Ruger VT.Calum at PRS reprofiled the stock.
It loves 68 Berger FB for Vermin and Target....25 moa.
58 gr Vax for Roe....25 moa..

I had a 22ppc Riflecraft custom.
Factory Sako 52gr Racehead SMK heads .25 moa.
Both are super accurate, little recoil and use little powder.
Hope this helps.

you'll struggle to meet the energy for deer with 6ppc but silly arbitrary rules aside they are lovely calibres that punch well above their weight , consider also the 6mm BR

In Scotland it's Roe deer legal.
A friend of mine used 70gr Nosler and achieved the energy levels required. He had to print off proof for the Police in England as he had a contract for culling.

I’ve got one, most accurate rifle I own and can push a 75gr v-max at 2,900 fps from an 18” barrel. Nice for muntjac and I’m sure roe too were it allowed.

The only bad thing about it is that the 1:12 barrel is never going to stabilise lead free, so it’ll either have to go, be target only or be re-barreled.

Try some 70gr Virtus Merlin bullets my 6ppc shoots them very well.

@Home Loader thanks for that, I’ll have to give them a try. I’d been doing stability calculations on the 55gr ballistic top lead free and they’re just too long (assuming you can even buy them).

Out of interest, what’s your PPC?

I’ve WhatsApp’d you sir
My rifle is a Cz 527 rebarreled to 6 ppc

I’ve got a .22 PPC, I’m shooting 55gn hornady v-max for foxes and it’s a noticeable upgrade from the .223 I was using before. My friend has a 6mm ppc that he was using for F class at our local club. Nobody could get near him at 300 yds and at 600 yds if he didn’t win he was top 3 although he is a very experienced shooter and given most rifles he’d be in the running. He also used it for stalking very effectively. I think he was shooting around 100gn bullets.

I’ve owned a pair of 6mm PPC’s first a brand new Ruger 77VT the grey one with laminated stock that shot nicely and the second was a Sako HB I think they called a competition model it was walnut and blued . They both shot extremely well with handloads of course . For the last ten or so years I’ve wanted to build four HB bench guns with same contour and length HB’s in the same benchrest stocks a 22 PPC a 6mm PPC a 222 REM and a 6x47 (6mm-222 REM MAG) and see which I could get the more tiny groups the newer benchrest standards of the PPC’s or the old benchrest favorites . Looks like now I’ll not get to give it a try but it was fun to contemplate .
