Here's x2 seats I have stockpiled for a rainy day and for when I've nowt else to do :-|

Plastic moulded, and with a couple of drain holes added, quite comfy.

A universal double converts from tree to free standing, with my dear old Dad on top who is not here any more.

I will be cutting it down the middle to make 2 from the one when the ground dries up and back to the work shop.
Always room to stick an extra high seat somewhere.

I had a couple of LandCruiser front bucket seats that I had at times thought would be very comfortable especially with the many angles of back rest. Would need covers or a roof over whilst not in use.

Made myself one with a cheap multi position ladder ,nice and stable and folds up to fit in the truck easily.

As an example my tree seats are made with an open back also far shorter (depth wise) in the seat area then use the tree as the back rest.
@needsy
The picture of the tyre shows how the seat sits on the radius of a tree with a couple of straps.
Nice and light.

You're obviously spoilt for choice with nice straight mature trees to put a highseat up against. All mine are in a hedgerow or woodland without a single vertical tree and so need a support to push them away from the trunk and with a decent back rest, otherwise you'd either topple out backwards or bent over by the tree leaning into the seat🤦🏻‍♂️

I used an angled folding ladder and plastic school chair plus homemade rail. I rely on the gap between the feet of the ladder and a tensioned ratchet strap to stop any sideways movement, rotation or slippage. This appears to be what Needsy is doing. At 16 stone I've never felt unsafe in it. I tend to put another ratchet strap at the midway point on the ladder, but its probably surplus to requirements .

Yes I’ve got 2 ratchet straps, the rear section(feet) of the ladder hold onto the tree. It’s actually really stable

My seats are hinged at the ladder so when I am not spoilt for choice and the tree is leaning then I pack the basket/seat frame
with wooden wedges (cut on site) so it is square then the ladder finds it's own angle.
I always stand with my sticks for a couple of outings to scope out things like the person who nips off the foot path or I have walked here for years can cause an issue before I set one up.

With a fixed angle high seat ladder the angle (also the tree) is how it will end up as manufactures don't take that into account or care tbh. I have one seat and only shot 3 muntjac from around 40 out of one field so use it as a viewing platform then down and off to get into it as the field is 275yds wide.

High seat I fabricated on farm over winter went up last week- took a fair ammount of time and patience to secure it to tree! Built as a double so as to give more space for bag/slip. Plan is to use it over summer to have a go at Charlie on our freshly cut hay field.

Use of a "school chair" in the basket, Built 2015
x4 pieces of square bar milled down to fit the 2.5x25x25
Front pair parallel for the ladder (and angle)
Back pair set on two angles giving the single back legs width all tied in with 10mm stays.
Will add some grease to them when it goes back up.

I knew marrying a headteacher would finally pay dividends. Usually it just means I do loads of unpaid labour for the school, but if I'm asked to do anything else then I'm going to be eyeing up the seats next time I'm there.

I made one from two road signs that were left outside my house
cut them about a bit of welding and some decking jobs a goodun
its been up now for three years and has accounted for quite a few foxes
the only thing is i looked the other day in the day light (normally only use it after dark) and the tree has started to grow around the V piece
i don't know whether to undo it and move it slightly or just leave it
also ive had to put two block paving blocks under the ladder where the tree has grown a bit taller lol

seems like home made might have to be the way forward given how hard it is to buy High Seats commercially at the moment..
