I Bought a Victorinox 5" Boning Knife Earlier Today...

... along with a cheap and cheerful flexible filleting knife, I have just been informed that both should be arriving tomorrow, which is good.

The Victorinox in order to blatantly copy it, to make a nice hand made version of it (with a few modifications), the filleter in readiness for my week on the south coast in a few weeks, I have a couple (at least) of mackerel trips planned.

I would make and take a filleter but the chances of me leaving it in the accommodation after frantically packing the car in order get away early enough to make it back to Sheffield in less than 12 hours or so are are high 😂

Anyway, back to my point, I have not been age verified yet, I wonder when the UK supplier will get around to that?

On the subject, I recently bought a Mora Fishing Comfort 090 as it looked nice and thin for butchery but not silly long.

I used it to cut a roe up the other day and was quite impressed with it. Handle is the same as all the cheapo Mora stuff, so nice and grippy when dealing with flesh and slidy conditions. Easy to sharpen and the usual bomb proof sheath.

I think it was Springfields I got it from and it did not turn up for a few days which I found odd. I contacted them to ask why and they said they had not been able to verify my age. I cannot recall how they tried to do it now but a quick email with my driving licence sorted it out.

Someone did tell me today that some retailers are verifying by viewing the electoral roll, not sure how that works??

I was ask to sign for a knife by the postie who said that if the person didn't look old enough they were to ask for verification ID

That is true, I only ever use an age verified service these days.

You are supposed to be checked at point of sale too though.

Not sure how to check through the electoral register though??

Well I bought off rob and Jessica at Monarch country products the Mora ribbed curved 5" semi flex boning knife and I was blown away with the ergonomics and grip just how good it felt in hand to use ...I bought another 3 ...the. my brother tried one...I never got that one back .....steel is OK same as the victorinox but thos Mora is another level in feel !

I have no doubt that everything you say is true and Mora do make great knives...

That handle shape and ribbed design though, is anyone else seeing what I see 😂

I am still trying to decide if it s ribbed for comfort or pleasure...

When you posted the photo, I thought well April 1st has gone so it isn't that, then I went and Googled it, I honestly thought you were having me on 😂 😂

i have victorinox in my larder and good.... but these just feel bl00dy brilliant from 2nd you pick one up and feel "right"

Slight hijack but as you mentioned filleting knives, I need a couple of replacement filleting knives (cheap) to leave on the boat, they never last more than a season and often not more than a couple of trips. What’s peoples cheap filleters of choice?
