UK pensioner heating allowance returns

Hello, You got £500 ?? was this as a Husband and Wife payment ??, £600 was the maximum payment 2023/24 for people are on the lowest pension with pension credit with long term health benifits, Now it is from what i have read £300 for those on a pension of £35,000 or less, I do wonder where they get the idea of Pensioners on £35,000 :-| is that including a private pension ??

It is based on taxable income. Pensions being aggregated (state pension, private pension income). Some income streams eg ISA income potentially sheltered from that total. Paid to all and recovery from those over 35k taxable income will be through taxation. Excuse my cynicism but I suspect it will cost more in effort to recover than it would to simply pay it to everyone.

Every year was £500 from hitting my 65th in 2015, no letters or checks were ever done so I assume that was the norm.

How does anyone qualify for £500 WFP??
My wife and I worked 45 and 50 years (respectively) in this country, paying tax and NI to the UK treasury, throughout that time. We never got £500 even before it was stolen by Rachael from Accounts:-|:(

Some of these people will have payed taxes and NI all their working lives….
Why should they receive nothing?

You do not "claim" heating allowance. As a pensioner it is sent automatically (but not £500 !). My wife and I are "comfortable" although we do not enjoy the lifestyle of many on here. Frankly we don't need it and a more nuanced adjustment avoiding the cliff-edge would have been fine.

Because they worked abroad, and then retired abroad, why the hell should they get any benefits from the UK as pensioners ?

Who told you they worked abroad?
Vast majority of people that go to live in a different country do so after they retired from their working life in the UK, surely?
