Hi,
Thought id take a break from reloading and try some factory stuff.
Bought 20 rounds of 243 from a local shop and it was all but £40 for 20.
Went to a different place today and bought 3 x 20 x 243 and the dearest was £33.50 going down to £24 for cheapest.
Brand are Winchester, Sako and Norma.
Ken.
Ps. This is a win. cart; never seen bullets in factory ammo that colour before.

Gotta admit, the Hornady 222 x 50 grain Superformance can’t be bettered by my 50 grain vmax x 19 gr of N120.
Both do 1/2” at 100 yds.

I managed to get a deal on Sako Blade for my Creedmoor. 200 rounds for £160 a few years back which was cheaper than I could reload for and they are just as accurate so I haven't reloaded for that rifle since.

The 58g superformance factory rounds in 243 are super accurate out my rifle, same with 129g SST superformance 6.5CM super accurate i also get great results from 55g Sako gamepoint factory in 223, with the accuracy of the above I have no need yo reload as I don't see how I could improve on them.

What rifle are you putting the .223 through?
Im new to centrefire and only looking at factory loads currently.
Ive picked up a Howa 1500, and im looking for what factory ammo will suit its 1-8 twist.
Cheers.

1-12 Tikka T3X stainless, am not a long range target shooter just practice at hunting ranges 50-250m

Sako 80gn blades are mustard in both my 243's. Both Tikka - one 1:8 and the other 1:10.
Norma 100gn lead through the !:8 is the best though.

I have tried this in my .243 and put them over 2 different chronos, they do not achieve the minimum muzzle energy to be deer legal, apart from CWD and muntjac.

There is no guarantee that one brand/bullet weight will work in two rifles built one after the other. The other factor is subjective, your idea of good and mine could be a long way apart.
So I will offer the advise given to me when I started (I believe it is still as valid now).
Start with the lowest priced that you can get easily (local RFD for example). Work up in price till you get the performance that suits you (both accuracy and terminal). Then buy as much of that batch you can afford/legally have.
I do similar now but with home loaded. Try a bullet powder combination, once happy stick with it, till forced to change.

Good advice, especially with the lack of RFD near me. Good to me would be grouping around an 1 to 1-5" at 100, 150, 200yds.
Its only going to be used on foxes, never targets or competitions except for zero etc.

I just bought half dozen very old boxes of Norma .243 100gr and by Christ they shoot bloody awesome

Usually though, Federal. No time for reloading and I’m basically one bullet one deer anyway. ( or try to be )
Used to be my go to on my 75 .243 before I went to copper. It was indeed marvellous stuff 🤗

Depending on twist rate you should get decent results with 50/55gn plastic tipped type rounds (faster twist ie 1 in 9' slightly heavier) or if there's chance of deer (where legal) a 55gn soft point won't go amiss.
I prefer 1/2 MOA (1/2" at 100yds) as by the time you add the less than perfect shooting positions etc you soon open that up. Gives a better margin in "real life" shooting in my opinion.
