Hi all.

I've finally been granted my FAC after many months of waiting.
I have a .308 with moderator on my ticket.

I'm looking for an all purpose rifle, which will be future proof with the progression to non lead ammunition. To be used with a moderator.

I am particularly drawn to the Browning X bolt 2, particularly as the safety is in a wonderfully familiar position on the tang - after shooting shotguns for many years. In addition to the fact that you can do a safe unload with the additional button. I'd love to know people's opinions on these rifles. I hear a lot less about them than Sako and Tikka for example.

I have an X-bolt (not 2) in .243 that I bought from a fellow SD member and absolutely love it. Thumbhole laminate stock, stainless, fluted, shoots much better than me and never has any issues.

Again, I don't have the X Bolt 2 but I have the original, in .243.

Its accounted for more foxes than I can remember, and plenty of deer too!

Its been used, if not abused ... hasn't suffered the sticky stock and is very accurate with both factory and home loads... Last fox I shot with it was 300 yards... £719 from Malmo, money well spent indeed!

The safety is familiar and the safe unload option with the wee button on the bolt works very well indeed. Its never failed to feed, in some very rapid fire situations when multiple foxes have come in... all in all, for the money I cannot fault it!

Hopefully the X Bolt 2 is just a refined version!

I have both an XBolt (v1) and Tikka T3 in .270. I much prefer the safety on the X Bolt as you can work the bolt to unload with the safety on.
