cz452 not grouping.

looking at that "best" group it seems to be rising rising and rising not mutch sideways movement. Barrel never got hot to touch, barely got warm.

Some stock contact on the left side of the barrel. Its clearly not throwing "fliers" so i think crown/barrel is out.

its only vertical wich makes no sense with stock contact on the left. Its ammo from one box, and every ammo shows verticality exept for CCI stingers, those throw a shotgun pattern across the paper, il put that on the ammo.

This had to be either extreme velocity variations in the ammo, something iam not equipped to measure. Or mechanical back and forth/up and down movement of either action or scope i imagine.

That vertical shot dispersion screams either velocity fluctuations or barrel harmonics being influenced

Its consistent among most ammos i tried, and norma tac22 has a good rep here. Could the rifle cause such fluctuations?

harmonics is a possibility, it does make stock contact. il try a different scope, il clear the barrel channel either way. Otherwise iam stumped.

For what it's worth my experience of 22LR's is it takes some seriously defective aiming kit (scope & mounts) to negatively impact meaningful grouping.

Ammunition has always determinened how well or otherwise both my 1960's Brno and 1990's Cooper Arms rimfires perform.

If it’s fully bedded to the forend, it should stay that way. If you run a sheet of a4 paper down the barrel channel and it suddenly gets trapped, sand that area/spot out. Make sure your action screws are tight equally, and one isn’t tightened up hard before the other one is, in order to have equal spread of torque between them. Does it have a screw in the forend that tightens up into the barrel halfway up the stock like the older brno’s do?

one screw in the rear sight, one screw in front of the magazine, the back of the action allows paper under it, the barrel allows paper on the right but not left.

I had a 452 and it had issues. Eventually I found the action in letting had a high spot.
So I cut plastic bottles to make shims around the fixings screws to lift the action up a little. Then it shot everything I put through it.

My 452 did same from new.... discovered using a cotton bud that crown had a raggy bit that took fluff off cotton bud.... my father got grinding paste and a tool for doing valves and hand ground the crown ...back out half hour later and shot keyhole

Switched scope, floated the barrel, just for good measure since it cant hurt i put a bit of bedding compound behind the recoil lug and in the barrel channel between the chamber and lug and under where the Tang screw would be on most rifles.

Still not satisfied but this mutch i can explain with normal things like ammo, shooter error, maybe even wind.

If the stock is touching that’ll likely be the issue - I would just open it up a little using sandpaper wrapped around a socket of a suitable size, check that the barrel is free floating, and then resell stock and refit screws. Export bedding should not be a necessity
I had to sand both my CZ 452s to ensure that the barrels were free floating.

The CZ452 rifle is a discontinued model so ‘new to owner’ rather than ‘new.’ As it could be up to 70 years old and considering what unknown life it had prior to being bought the latest groups (today’s) are within acceptable expectation.

I know The exact history actually, i trades a sako centerfire for it with a friend (i have to many of those already)

Its about 30 years old, been a match rifle for 10 years then pushed to the back of the safe in favor of tikka t1x where it remained

That’s great, at least you can be more confident in the bore and bedding. Which makes it more likely to have been an issue with your setup, scope and mounts etc.

Yea iam happy now, before it wasnt shooting like a rifle should. Good or bad, rifles should be given a certain performance if they function. My Vepr (big AK type light machine gun) shoots similar groups to my CZ550, just mutch bigger. But it still looks like a group if you get what i mean.

yesterdays results..... getting a vertical climb like that at such close range isnt normal, just like when my Sako A3 FS was throwing a buckshot pattern across a 1 square meter paper. The screw holding the front part of the stock on had come loose.

Today iam seeing groups at longer range (50 vs 30) that look like proper groups.

Seems my rifle doesnt hate norma but doesnt love it either.

ZK rifle match is very good, some going in the same hole, but throws rounds low ovassionally, observed over 25 shots.

ZK pistol match is crap,

CCI stinger is pretty good but nothing amazing again.

CCI subsonic hp it hates,
CCI standard hp is meh.

next up i have the magtech lineup, CCI quickshock and blaser.
