I've watched railway company put some down, letting them out of a carrying box. I get that Warren's could undermine the trackbed, but the disease then fans out across the local area.Would not surprise me in the slightest, I’ve heard stories of the highway agency’s putting them down aswell for quite a few years. I’ve got no evidence for it but I keep hearing the same stories from different people
Highly illegal. The rule of law my arse.I've watched railway company put some down, letting them out of a carrying box. I get that Warren's could undermine the trackbed, but the disease then fans out across the local area.
Im lucky that a few of my perms have healthy numbers, one or two have too many. A few have literally not a single one.
Black rabbits occur completely naturally within a wild population. No "cross" involved. I forget what the typical ratio of black:normal is off the top of my head.Belta them not seen any cross ones on the farms a got
Be nice to see them back again to be honest, hopefully it’s not an awful lot of time untill they bounce back.
I was watching a video of a guy shooting them up north somewhere a d it was crawling with them

Way back when I was a boy living by the sea, there was a length of cliff beside the railway that was cut off by, obviously, the line and sea on one side, and human habitation on the other. There was a substantial number of black rabbits, as well as a few ginger ones. They were there for years until Mixy went through them like a dose of salt. I don't believe there are any rabbits there now.Yes these recessive colour morphs are completely naturally occurring to do with the genetics of agouti fur colouration. They generally occur in areas of inbreeding etc, isolated populations of high density. When you start spotting them generally it is an indication of population issues, and in my experience there will often be a disease collapse soon after.
Do you have a link to the videos mate?On my permissions up north I'm over run with rabbits, on one permission I took approximately 70 in two sessions, each session was maybe 3-4 hours
I've got a permission up here in the north where I took approximately 70 rabbits of in two short visits, I have never had a lull in the action I just need to keep plugging away at them as they just keep coming.
I did a YT videos of these two trips
Not a problem mateThank you I’ll have a watch
Cheers Rob
Not such a daft idea at all.....In parts of Galloway some of the keepers would release a couple of black rabbits to see what effect myxomatosis was having on the population. You still get occasional throwbacks appearing.Well thanks for that gents
Every day a school day
For years when a did come a cross them a thought some bar stewards let there pet go![]()
