BASC warns Minister against shotgun–firearms licensing merger

will members of the public be able to make their views known in this consultation? Ive just googled it, I can only find a consultation from 2023, that I wasn't aware of. Thanks
Yes it will be a public consultation as in 2023. That consultation had 91,385 responses the vast majority being from shooters, in fact mostly from BASC members. Given that you did not hear about it underlines the need for the next campaign to be pushed even harder than the last one to try and reach more people - and that needs everyone to chip in sharing the word, not only leaving it to the shooting organisations.

Thank you and appreciate where you are coming from and the feeback we get is that MPs and their staff do take note of a volume of emails/letters on any given topic even if it may not seem so in terms of the response you might get.

Its the weight of numbers we need - i sent my letter this morning to 200 people in my circle - if we all did just 10 or 20 people the results would be incredible - I also sent in pictures of men - women - and children - of many races shooting and doing vital conservation work together
That's exactly the positive 'can do' attitude we need to inspire more folk to adopt.

Do you use a template for writing letter or something? I'll send Rob jenrick one but im crap at writing letters.
Just write it in your own words. Its authentic that counts, not scripted letters, but happy to look over your draft if you wish to send it to me by PM.

What would be useful is have we any figures on FAC/SGC per Parliamentary constituency?

How many Shooting Clubs/Syndicates etc etc per Parliamentary constituency.

Then somehow get them to exchange contact details and keep each other in the loop, hence if we get an MP to visit we can ensure a good turn out and let’s face it FAC holders will be affected as Firearm certification is already broken so even longer delays if the law changes. Personally I would undertake this role for my Corby and East Northamptonshire where I live.

With this information we can demonstrate that ours isn’t an isolated sport with few participants but hugely popular across a wide sector of the community, that hopefully will make them think. After all changes to SGC wil impact FAC certificates as it wil over burden an already broken system.

One for all the Shooting organisation to deliver - PLEASE!

wouldn't that be lovely!

never happen though , just look on here where we cant agree on a single thing and we've members claiming some should not have a license because they disagree with them !

BASC will fight this one a lot better than they have previous BECAUSE ITS THIER JOBS that will go , along with their gass guzzling vehicles' . No faction will be discounted in that fight , no punches pulled .
If there is a free lunch and free drinks and such , it might still go pear shaped though !
