A woman who was mauled to death by her own dog has been identified as 39-year-old Christine Kulis.
Ms Kulis was killed by her pitbull mastiff cross on Thursday at her home in Whyalla, about 400km northwest of Adelaide.

SA Police said the woman suffered serious injuries and was treated at the scene, but could not be revived.

Ms Kulis’ mum Meredith Howe from Port Augusta told the Daily Mail that she had pleaded with her daughter to have the dog put down.
 
Some breeds are certainly better or lesser suited to certain activities but the problem usually lies with the owner and not the breed.

There are of course very infrequent instances of unsalvageable delinquents which should be put down as soon as it becomes apparent, and applies to all breads and species as a percentage.

If the problem lay mostly with the owners why don’t we hear about people being killed frequently by labradors or chihuahuas? I am seriously interested in the answer.
 
My point being that plenty, dozens of other breeds are more likely to bite you. But obviously bull breeds have more strength lbs for lbs, more of a bite so do more damage. Plus they make a great headline for the tabloids.

They’re just not big or athletic enough .
That goes for cockers, collies and Jack Russell’s too. They all bite lots of people, but they generally can’t put an adult on the ground and really get to work.
The bullies are incredibly strong and heavy for their size.

Exactly, they are inherently less dangerous to life. Because of the breeds they are. Nothing to do with the owners.

I think bull breeds are just closer to letting their latent violence loose with less of a trigger. My cousin has one, and she calls her the softest dog ever. Yeah, until she's not. I don't like them, I don't trust them, I don't think they are in any way suitable as a pet, and quite franky I'll be glad to see the breed die off once the latest generation has gone
 
I used to meet 5 or 6 dogs a day at work, never had a problem with a bull breed, it was always a collie or more often a small handbag sized dog,
