been off the scene for while so not up to date with the lastest have to have items, just setting up a 7mm 08 and looking for a mod.so whats the must have mod for 2026 ?? will be going on a Blaser with double shoulder cut if anyone has one they dont need

Svemko, you could possibly spend more on these moderators than what your rifle cost, i see them at the stalking show, quality kit, but pricey

Had a freyer and devik, it was decent. Weighed nothing.

But gone over to a trusty ase utra al5 which is heavier but knocks the muzzle flip down so much better. I also cant break it!

I like the noise reduction of the wildcat t12 scout. Bit heavy but suits me well on the rifle it’s on. A heavy fixing rig normally shot off roof of jeep.

the best mod that i own hands down is my hardy stealth , light weight and superb sound reduction but it's alloy so won't last like the steel mods , in fact i am dreading it giving up the ghost because i don't think they are imported anymore

Consider the muzzle attachment device when looking at a “quick” detach model. They will add 100g to the overall weight.

Titanium is light but also resonates at a different frequency to steel and aluminium so can sound louder at the same DB.

At 335g the Ase Utra SL5i is a pretty good all rounder I have used. Especially for the price.

The Frery and Devik Ultimate silence range get very good reports for sound attenuation and weigh very little the 231 appears to be the best of everything. You will just have to get over the issues of previous generations. Although saying that, other manufacturers have also had problems but not as widely reported. It doesn’t help that F&D’s occurred with a large well known contract.

100g, 😂

F&Ds new mods are ok, but get ridiculously hot with just 2-3 rounds through; will melt mod protectors and sniper tape, and will give you a severe burn if touched

When you are paying for a light weight silencer and hold it in your hand it suddenly it isn’t as light weight with and additional 100g.

That’s the first time I have heard about heat retention on F&D, they must retain the gasses very well. If they melt a protector, I would say it’s a not very well made item. They should be heat resistant.

I use an inconnel Oceania Defence quick lock, it gets very very hot. Simply I don’t touch it. Being inconnel it is designed to handle full auto so there is no integrity issue with heat cycles. Any silencer that captures hot gasses will get hot, occupational hazard, I guess.

Hi Dave, the F&D suppressors do get hot quickly but that’s a function of their ability to trap gases and the properties of titanium.
I have just tried one of the new Brugger and Thomet FM Tirex hunting mods, which are 3D printed titanium with an Inconel blast baffle. It’s very quiet, better than F&D and build quality is excellent.
Kind regards
Nick

Hi Nick,

I have just read my response back, it doesn’t read very well. I was referring to the moderator cover not being made very well if it melts and can’t handle the heat.

I completely agree, it’s all about slowing that gas down wbere it will inherently capture the heat ans with it suppress the noise.

Who supplies the B&T mods? I need a new mod for my 6mm creedmoor and will always take your recommendations.

Best regards

Dave
