Gun Trader - A Picture of Shopper Frustration

Just have to get it off my chest:

What part of attaching an image to the advert do sellers find so damn difficult? Further, what part of failing to respond to a request (prompt) for such is considered other than bad form?

There, I now feel much better!

I’ve been keeping an eye out on Guntrader for a particular scope & I must admit to feeling similar sense of wonder at the lack of initial thumbnail images on adverts from some sellers.

As a variation to ‘no photo’ - Ivythorn attach the same ‘Gunroom’ thumbnail image to the front of virtually all their adverts - with (as regards Swarovski scopes) the same general ‘Swarovski Telescopic Sights’ title as well no matter what model of Swarovski scope it may be.

I was interested in a straight pull SLR a few months ago. It was priced at £2750. I asked the seller a few questions which he responded to within a few hours but the next day he increased the price to £3250!!!!

it is the filter settings Richard....any hint of a .25 with a green platted sling it set to auto reject

I find the Gun Trader website now a waste of time anyway.

I do not know how a firm can revert back to an old web site after they had superseeded it with a very good updated site and then revert it back to a rubbish site.

It just does not make sense to me perhaps they do not want any business,

I gave up mostly with GT. For with some dealers you'd call up and ask if they'd still got X, Y or Z and they say no but they had got this, or that, or something else.

Bought my last 2 air rifles off Guntrader, most recently Sunday.
So I've found my expierence ok.It's frustrating when seller don't put up pictures but that's normally trade
Most queries I had for several air rifles were normally answered quickly or next day.

It's an object lesson in how not to make a change to a website.

Since they lost everyone’s data in a colossal breach and then did the old phoenix trick to avoid liability I have been very reluctant to use them. One expects more from a peer of the realm (or perhaps not…)

Very poor website, after going through pages of POA ads and a certain auction house taking up space, you click on the thing you want only to be told its sold (so why is it still on the site), then you have literally every advertiser on there thinking emails are either a new concept or witchcraft or don't answer the phone. More irritating is looking at a cheaply priced PCP which clearly states no licence in the info box then says its doing 32 ft/lb and needs an FAC in the description.

One may live in hope!

Since my last post on this thread I've attempted to purchase no less than 3 (three) rifles via GunTrader, all of which I've committed to in writing and at the sellers asking price in the case of items 1 and 2:

1. Browning 45-70 High Wall - Seller indicated he would sell but then failed to respond to multiple follow-up messages/e-mails. This went on for over a month!
2. Sako 85 - Seller finally responded to my message/e-mail some fortnight after sending. By the time I saw the response offering it to me it had sold.
3. Daystate 12ft/lb Wolverine R - Seller agreed sale and I went to collect last Saturday. Half way to his house I stopped to read a text that stated the seller had just cronographed the rifle and it was "all over the place" so he was removing it from sale until fixed. My bet is he was offered the full asking price sometime between giving me his address and setting off on a 200-mile round trip!

4th time lucky?

I have recently replied to three adverts on there for a AirarmsS510 , messaged and rung the sellers agreed the listed selling price but they wont post and then they stop responding, also one person on here, same thing.

Well the standard scam is selling something as an Accuracy International when it is some clapped out Remmy in an AICS stock. Trade as well. Repeatedly. Guntrader do not give a ****
