HW100 .22 pellets

On their way are JSB Jumbo RS 13grain, JSB Jumbo Express 14grain, Bisley Long Range Gold, RWS Superfield 15grain, H & N Barcuda 18 18grain. I have packed twenty-three of each as some say fire three pellets as what in centrefire days you call "warmers" or "fouling shots" to lead in the barrel to that particular pellet. For grouping I always say three rounds is a mere indication of strike but five rounds is a group!

Let us here on SD know how you got on. And, as advised, fire three to foul or lead the barrel before then firing an actual group. I always do a zeroing group at the distance I intend to shoot at. For me that is a mere fifteen yards as that is the length of shots I take on squirrels in my garden. I then do a quick group at ten yards and five yards (without altering the sights) to know where my holdover or holdunder needs to be. For youself choose the distances that you are likely to shoot at. But at least with thse few pellets you'll usually get one particular one that out performs all the others. Good Luck!

I will do for sure 😊 👍and post photos on here, going to run test of these pellets in different gr weights.

Aye I will probably go with 25yd with it being 22 and all, when I get a 177 in future that will be 35yd zero.

Cheers everyone for your help and advice appreciate it 🙏 and thanks enfieldspares too👍

My PCP voyage was to buy two BSA Scorpion T-10 both sub 12ft/lbs. Both as made unregulated. One in .177 the other in .22. The old idea of .177 for feather and .22 for fur as the idea at the time was mainly to shoot woodpigeons with the .22 for the odd squirrel. The .177 I had regulated the .22 not as for a .22 fitting a regulator doesn't give the big gain in consistency that it supposedly does to a .177.

I then some years later had sold the .22 but kept the .177. However on moving to my present location with neighbours on all sides I had concern that a .177 even if a good head shot wouldn't "anchor" a squirrel. Kills them and great for cage trapped but I was concerned that if shoot "free" that they wouldn't be dead and dead right there. Whereas a .22 head shot seems to stun the thing as well as kill.

Therefore the T-10 went and has been replaced by the .22 Scorpion SE I have presently. I don't do any nocturnal rat shooting and on any case for rats I'd shoot through the shoulders and for that I think that a .22 is better than a .177 to "pin" the thing.

Yerr, I see where you're coming from with that.👍

My (long gone) FX impact mk2, loved JSB out to longer ranges 96 ish yards at Riflemans and similar at Braces. The softer pellets (JSB Air Arms and FX all made by JSB of course worked well.
Other makes H&N and RWS to name 2 others were harder construction and less able past 50 yards or so.
I never tried the Chinese pellets but mates reported they were excellent 👍

If you would like, I can send you some samples of the pellets mine has liked.
Thanks, all good this point. That was over 2 years ago when I first got the rifle. I’ve settled on stratons and got used to it. Can one hole ish at 30 yards or so which is my max hunting range with sub 12 so happy enough.

Must admit that is one pellet I haven`t tried myself yet. ,ine used to like the old crosman accupell too. I haven`t tried the webley accupell as I found it liked the crosman premier domed magnums. I think i`ll try some strattons and webley accupells too, just to compare.

I had weird flyers with my HW100 until I happened to have a chat with a guy from Hull Cartridge (the importers) who told me that it was imperative to have 5.51mm pellets NOT 5.52mm as many are. I made the switch to 5.51mm Air Arms Diablo Field and now it shoots literally one hole groups at 25m.

I like stratons because after doing loads of testing on various rifles it always seems to work well in .22. Obviously it helps to have one type of pellet so I sort of settled on it really. It’s the same as the AA diabolo hunter i think.

Hi,

How old is the rifle grouping looks ok but we would normally see a lot tighter groups in testing.
I work for Hull Cartridge and am the Weihrauch "man" so generally we find anything by JSB shoots well in larger headsizes these days older rifles it was the smaller headsizes.
Hand N FTT always worth a look our Weihrauchs own pellets. Longstrider will have spoken to me in the past!
Never found Hades to be incredibly accurate. Top tip do not use a pull through kit to clean the barrel unless you remove the barrel from the action as we see so many with a damaged breech seal that of course affects accuracy and performance.
For anything Weihrauch / Hull Cartridge related I will always try help out members just drop me a DM.

Best
Chris
