Wanted: Land for zeroing, Essex or suffolk?

Hi there,

I am hoping someone on here will be able and willing to help me out. I have my own deer stalking permission but it lacks a suitable area for zeroing and target practice.

I am hoping to find a suitable piece of land for zeroing my full bore rifles and do a bit of informal target practice on, I guess the basic requirements are safe backstop and a clear shot to the backstop of at least 100 yards (preferable more). Would be better if the land was in an area where noise would not annoy the neighbours i guess.

i have an open ticket so getting land passed is not an issue and I am insured via basc.

i am currently a member of a rifle club but need access to a range at my convenience rather that when they can be bothered to run the range day and not cancel it with no prior notice (rant over).

I would be prepared to pay something for the use of the land (although it would have to be a realistic amount as I'm not minted).

i am currently based in Essex (Brentwood) but am soon to move to suffolk (around the hadleigh area) so anywhere near these places or all points in between would be great.

hope to hear from you soon,
all the best,

I have the same problem due to the loss of my patch off green ,i have used the kynoch range lots of times but as its a still air tunnel range it is not the same as a standard zero, but perfect to develope ammo for the 1,000 yrd shooter , think it was £25 per hour +vat, also he likes you to bench rest on the comment line ,but he do's sometimes bring down a big boy round for testing that makes your face smile:D

If you have land cleared for deer surely you can check your aim or are you just wanting to blast holes in paper. I zeroed my rifles 8 years ago and i can still pick the placement every time.

2nd kynamco, comfy indoor range, £36 an hour to hire and its just you on your tod in an underground railway tunnel. No neighbours to disturb!

Yes I'd get away with a couple of shots to check aim, but there are houses not too far away and it wouldn't go down too well if I were to do any more than a couple of shots.

id like somewhere to do a bit of target practice just to keep my eye in, and possibly develop some loads if I start to reload.

im sure many shooters are accurate enough without any need to practise, I find that I need to get a bit of shooting practice in to stay accurate though.

I still think you just want to bash paper but if your ground is near houses you need to get/spend money on a better place. You obviously don't know your equipment so you shouldn't be using it on the ground you have. Sounds tuff but thats the facts.

glad I'm being criticised for having a desire to keep my marksmanship up to standard. Thought that might be a good idea but obviously I got that wrong.

if you re read the op you will note that I am prepared to pay for the land to shoot on, but obviously as I have no intention on shooting deer on it I wouldn't expect it to cost as much as a stalking lease.

 this is essex feller unless you are a game keeper or have ton's of dosh you are lucky to have a bit of your own let alone find someone who will let you just have it. kWC wildfowlers paid something like 200k for a bit of mud say 300yr buy 100yr and the bit off green i had for nowt but hard work helping out was snatched by the cash cows from london

mike two lads on this site and thay no who thay are have helped me out big time when i was stuck out of the members thay held out a hand top guys .i wished i still had my bit you would be free to use anytime once i'd took you to meet the farmer

Mike, the trip to Kynamco range is worth it. No matter where you go to shoot if you are firing a lot of rounds you are going to pi$$ someone off.
