Don't be so daft! Next thing you'll be pushing for an independent area of the Site, just for newcomers :D

In general I can't say I've noticed either etiquette or bull**** being the exclusive preserve of newcomers or old-timers. In fact they are a bit like the rain, in that it falls on both saint and sinner alike. There's as many old-timers who post rubbish as there are newcomers.....ahem, myself included

Personally I'm happy to ignore all of that because I've also seen the amazing generosity of many site members, who often give freely in terms of advice, stalking, donations, equipment, etc. to other like-minded souls.

That's surely worth putting up with the occasional rant, spelling mistake or off-topic wander?

And on that note , I have to take this opportunity to say a thank you, I have been made very welcome on this site and I have learned a hell of a lot from getting rid of reflection from a moderator to what bait to use for rooks. Thank you for the help I was given in regards to equipment as well, The rants and the debates have been entertainment if nothing else but it is essential for a community to get to know each other when we all live so far apart. Community like this is the most important way to be able to band together on the main topics that interest in out sport as much of what we do is behind closed doors and are pretty much frowned upon by the general public. It is not so bad in the Highlands and to be honest the "antis" are more likely to get local grief than the keepers and the stalkers, however, it is nice to have a community like this to bounce ideas off of.

Pinemarten -your cooking credentials; is that the same as all Welshmen can sing?

Nope, I know plenty of French people who can't cook! But I can. When I was about 14, my mother told me that if I wanted to continue to eat well as an adult, I'd have to leatrn to cook because no girls were going to do it for me. She was right.

I can see no worthwhile or practical way of judging someones experience from what they post. The beauty of forums is that everyone can join in- if you want closed advice; use google.

If you only want 'experts' to reply then write that in the subject heading and see what responses you get

I find those inherent moaners on this site a complete bore and show a lack of social etiquette.
There seems to be several "old timers" that post irrelevant posts about nothing much other than to have just a good moan about "newbies"
So please, if you have nothing interesting to post then don't start a thread.....including this one.

Its not to long ago, on Stalking Directory that if you asked a question, then that was the question that was answered, and answered with wisdom and experiance
I think standards of Etiquette on Stalking Directory has dropped.
There seams to be several newbies who have thousands of posts yet only been a member for a short time, these guys take things off topic quicker than anyone else.
Please if you have nothing add to the question dont post
Even to this post
:evil::evil:

As I have said many times before this site is for everyone, and you cant please everyone either!!

This site has helped many stalkers out, newbies and professionals alike and will continue in that vein all the time I am one of the owners of this site. Maybe if people put more effort into helping others and overlooking such small matters they will get more out of the site.

Actually you hit on a good point.
A few other forums I am a member of have a system where you can for use of a better word "like" a post.
This adds to the members "posts liked" and builds rep for that member.
Very helpful and usefull when selling and buying things.

Maybe we need a 'Expertise Level' alongside the number of post count which is judged by feedback from others on the helpfulness of their posts? We would then know who to ignore and who to trust.
A bit like the Ebay feedback system!
I have over 3000 posts, but sometimes very little Etiquette for sure!
MS:norty:

But what makes someone an 'expert'? DSC 1+2?:???:
Is it measurable?
Even experts were beginners at one point. How do they know when the transformation has taken place and they are allowed to post?
Maybe we need a SD entrance exam to allow people to post?
MS

We could call it the 'SDC1 & 2'

put simply you cannot judge a persons character or experience on a few keyboard character letters strung together on a screen, they may not have the experience that you yourself have attained or aspire to but they could be of help to countless others and have expierience in other fields,i myself have fell foul of this and been abused for too many posts ,and i have tried to cut back on intro welcomes or replys but its hard when youve been talking crap for 57years, WHIBBLE, regards doug,:old:

so i may have this wrong and i am sure you will tell me if i am, but going on the OP opinion if you have only just joined the Forum you cant have any experience stalking?

Naturally that must be the case, since anyone with stalking experience simply must have joined years ago.

Or could we perhaps be getting a bit up ourselves? ;)

i sometimes stick my little finger out when slurping my tea,i dont think that counts as etiquette just arthritis kicking in, :old:sorry i couldnt help myself its the little chap on my shoulder that makes me do it, :popcorn:smile it makes one less wrinkle,

I've experienced this rep system and everyone just gives rep to their pals . It's a crock of *****.
