The higher up the plum tree grows
The bigger grow the plums
The more a cobbler plies his trade
The broader grows his thumbs!
Top job that...

I would have went for the hob nails for nostalgia :) This man's got talent!
my wife has just laid down new oilcloth in the kitchen and i am getting to old to take boots of before the end of the day ,and its me that has to live here, and i have plenty nailed boots

Cracking workmanship that is, a trade that is slowly being lost for all. My old man was never seen in anything else but leather uppers and soles and he swore by them, I also liked to borrow taking my boys out on the slides down the hills, Brought back loads of good memories there of my Da, so missed by me and my weans.

And to think you come from Shetland not NORTHAMPTON the home of BOOT making ,considerably impressed great looking boots .

Fantastic ! Simply brilliant ! I have the utmost respect for your effort. Well done and enjoy the wearing of them.
i suppose that's what happens when you have those dark stormy nights in Shetland to while away.
Far too many people just throw money at things these days and then get bored watching TV or drinking beer in the pub instead of doing something fantastic and rewarding like that. Great work.

kind regards, Olaf

Hi

Excellent workmanship and long will they last - I take my hat off to you Sir!

Very impressive sir I too have crafted my own foot wear in the past a pair of clog bottoms from the local clog maker (sadly long gone) a pair of ex-military German jack boots with worn soles a few nails and out with the last a hour or so and new boots never looked like yours though.

yep bloody good, thought about taking orders?
it has taken all winter to make the lasts to size and two prs of boots one plain toe with nine lace holes for my son ,and my pr with ten lace holes and brogue toe caps , all hand stitched every stitch in the welt and sole heaved up and knocked tight ,no nails ,at one pound per hour i wouldnt be able to afford them , though i had to get sole leather hide from Devon and the uppers leather in the midlands and they get it from the states again i had to get a butt hide ,i have made harness and a saddle ,repaired lots of boots but never made from scratch ,pattern making took a lot of head scratching ,and then i made one rough boot out of gash leather to sort out the pattern snags and foot fit , i am after a length of tweed now to make a pr of plus fours before the winters out and the days get longer ,the ones i have on are down to the threads ,they will make my pattern, i did make a few inquiries as to price but i only want the tweed not the mill
