Best caliber for mountain hunts?

Any caliber who can produce an ethical kill, just get a rangefinder , calculate a range card using your balistics (a modern ballistic calculator is a good tool) and a scope who let you dial your correction .
If you don't want to get too complicated just pay atention to Shotgun :) and get a superb flat shooting .270 win or a 300 wm if you need more range and energy .
 
@DAC , Last time i checked, Timisoara was flat like a pancake, so i doubt you have a clue about shooting in the mountains... If you want to get clued, give me a shout, i can show you a few things... :stir:
 
Haha very true but I don't shoot and hunt in Timis County.
Anyway any bit of advice and experience exchange is welcomed 😄
 
Whatever you can group in the vitals, from field positions, at whatever range you intend to shoot at and carries enough terminal energy to do the job is the cartridge to choose.

Also, why 270 WSM? Even at 400 yards, using the same bullet, the difference between 270WSM and 270 Win is about 1" when they are both zeroed at 100 yards (as an example)
