Ideal cull animal just one antler- heavy beast though.

Do you mean "ideal" because it's got just the one antler? I've culled them myself in the past for the same reason, but if it's simply been snapped off low/mid-length in the rut, then antlers regrow, so if he's a good beast (by local standards), unless there is an obvious reason he'll not regrow both next season, I am now more minded to hold the shot.
 
Nice cull buck - nothing special for a second head and a good one to shoot, regardless of whether it’s lost an antler.
 
Antler hadn't grown at all on the other side & poor antler on the one that was left. Have seen a couple of decent (for here) heads on the ground and am leaving them to pass on their genes- they won't be shot.

Typical head for a wild, not park, fallow buck. Unlike antelope deer shed and regrow antlers so next year he could have a decent head.
