  1. Wanted: Stalking Lease/Permission

Thanks cookingfat, I’ve just signed up. It’s an interesting idea, and you never know what might come from it. Fingers crossed!
  2. Wanted: Stalking Lease/Permission

Hi Steve, First I’d heard of that, will definitely have a look! Thanks for the suggestion.
  3. Wanted: Stalking Lease/Permission

Just giving the post a ‘bump’. Remaining ever hopeful.
  4. Wanted: Stalking Lease/Permission

I really am sorry to hear that marineboy. Even though we know these places aren’t ‘ours’, it’s impossible not to invest an awful lot of yourself in them. Your comment about not taking on more land than you could manage effectively resonates with me too. I did the same thing, and turned down a...
  5. Wanted: Stalking Lease/Permission

Hi all, I know how fruitless these posts can be, but it’s been such a long time since I’ve needed to consider finding land that I’m not sure where else to start. I’m just about to lose the stalking permission that I’ve had for the past 8yrs, due to the estate making some changes regarding the...
  6. Wanted: Unaccompanied Sika/Red Stag Stalking 2023

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or can offer unaccompanied Sika/Red stag stalking for next year. 4 or 5 people total. 3 with DSC2 and 2 with DSC1. Like to think of ourselves as a reasonably experienced bunch. Looking to make a good few days or even a week of it...
  7. How does someone qualify to be an AW

Thanks Nick, that’s very kind. Your reasons for witnessing as you do align with my own motivation for wanting to become an AW. I’ll drop you a PM. 5pointer.
  8. How does someone qualify to be an AW

Thanks JCS, that’s probably the best approach.
  9. How does someone qualify to be an AW

Does anybody know the current state of affairs regarding whether new AWs are being taken on? I’ve heard mixed things, and after recently asking a chap who is apparently involved in the process about my desire to become an AW, I was met with with a ‘why do you want to? There’s no money in it’...
  10. Advice needed

I’m a size 12 and I bought a pair of Meindl Douvre Pro (iirc that’s the name) boots about 18months/2years ago and have done lots of stalking in them in varying terrain. Very supportive but not overly heavy or cumbersome. Would highly recommend. 5pointer.
  11. 6.5 Creedmoor - Which ammo?

Morning all, I went out and decided to use the last 5 rounds in each of the already open boxes of ammo, (still wanted to keep a box of each in reserve for use on the deer), to do another group with each option before deciding what to go with, and to see if they were still performing...
  12. 6.5 Creedmoor - Which ammo?

Hi Muir, You’re right, of course, that this is splitting hairs. The Hornady seems to be stocked slightly more readily than the Sako, and I keep hearing good things about the terminal performance of the ELD-X. For the sake of a fraction of an inch, (which, as you say, could change on any given...
  13. 6.5 Creedmoor - Which ammo?

Thank you all for the input. Common sense says to go with the most accurate option, in this case the Sako, but I just wanted to ensure it was suitable for deer in terms of expansion etc. Looks like that’s what I’ll be going with for now.
  14. Moving my 308 to lead free- suggestions and thoughts please

I use Fox 150gr in my .30-06 and it’s superb. Will shoot half inch groups and has performed fantastically on deer - good and reliable expansion and good wound channeled, with limited carcass damage. I had previously tried RWS HIT 160gr (iirc?) and it was far too hard and pencilled straight...
  15. 6.5 Creedmoor - Which ammo?

Hi all, A quick question for those of you who have more experience with this calibre on the deer. I recently purchased a 6.5 Creedmoor, (I know - hipster beard is coming through as we speak), and whilst at the RFD I asked for a selection of deer appropriate ammunition to try. There were three...
