  1. Certificates renewal with Police Scotland

https://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/threads/renewal-no-need-for-gp-this-time.177143/ I started the above thread a while ago. I didn't need to get anything from my GP as I have previously had to jump through the GP hoops on my initial grant and my renewal went through without a hitch. Despite...
  2. Uh oh!!

If this isn't a nationwide cartel I don't know what is. The letter from my game dealer (Scotland) is pretty much word for word exactly the same.
  3. Kitchen knives

io shen would be my recommendation https://ioshen.co.uk/
  4. Renewal...no need for GP this time.

I got my SGC back in 2015 and got my FAC in 2016 after the medical thing came in. I am in Scotland so had no choice but to get the GP to sign the form. I chose to go coterminous and as a result both my certs need to be renewed in Feb 2020. I have just received the letters from the Police...
  5. Shooting white pheasant ??

Sort of the same thing for us. You have to shoot at the white ones if they come over (and it is safe and sporting to do so). If you miss its £50 in the charity pot. If you bring it down, all the other guns pay £10 to the charity pot. Mainly put down as marker birds though.
  6. Moisture gun cabinet

I have a similar problem with guns going mouldy when left in the cabinet. I have tried desiccants but they have not worked. I think I am going to go down the route of installing a heating element (aquarium mat or lockdown bar) and using a differential thermostat to keep the cabinet temperature...
  7. Credit card fraud

There are new regulations that are coming in that mean from the end of the year(ish) you will only be able to make 5 contactless transactions with your card before being asked to insert your card and input your pin. This will reset the counter and you will be allowed another 5.
  8. Any recommendations for a head torch?

Black diamond Storm. Very bright, has a red mode and most importantly, seeing as all my previous head torches died due to water ingress, is waterproof (IPX67 i think).
  9. BREXIT MARCH - anyone up for it ?

Not strictly true, its actually the majority of the people who voted in the referendum. That's only 26.5% of the population of Great Britain. Far from the majority. In fairness though, only 24.5% wanted to remain, 20.5% couldn't vote and the remaining 28.5% either couldn't be arsed to vote or...
  10. How good is Cerakote?

Not all cerakote jobs are equal, I have a Sauer 100 Ceratech that produced rust bubbles below the factory cerakote job causing it to flake off less than 6 months after I bought it (new). Now sorted out by Dave at Valkyrie courtesy of @Edinburgh Rifles but I would definitely be steering away from...
  11. Lead shot ban

    Thanks @enfieldspares useful info
  12. Lead shot ban

Thanks, how does the larger load act like the tighter choke, or is it just filling in the pattern?
  13. Lead shot ban

Sorry, I meant to mention that I knew of the different metals/alloys available but cost is a factor and I was mainly asking about steel. Unfortunately the Eley website has nothing about their new VIP steel pro eco, but, I have just called their sales team. They are available to order through...
  14. Lead shot ban

Not wanting to derail the stimulating lead is toxic, lead has done me no harm so it cant be toxic debate but, I could do with some practical advice... My preferred gun is a 1980's Spanish 12 bore, non steel proof barrels with 1/4 and 3/4 fixed chokes and 70mm chambers. I imagine this combo of...
  15. Scotland's lost the plot too now...

I was also quoted 16 weeks by Fettes for a variation before Christmas. Apparently 7mm-08 is dissimilar enough from a .270 to require a phone call from the FEO. In the end it took about 3 weeks.
