  1. Hi From Scotland

Welcome, and to the world of reloading. If your journey is anything like mine you will suddenly get fixated with absolute accuracy in measurements and processes!
  2. Hikmicro condor CQ50 thermal

I was wondering about which thermal too get very recently (my first one), and ended up going for the 50 over the 35. I'm happy to scan screens so the narrower field of view isn't an issue and I prefer the buggy / clearer image you get from the 50. I think it helps pick the best animal rather...

Hi, and welcome. What calibers do you use for 100 yard indoor shooting?
  4. No Sako

That's a real pity. I'm biased as I have a25-06, but it really is a great calibre for hunting as opposed to being focused on optimising performance at extreme distance ( such as PRC).
  5. .270 non lead

Yeap. For me (assuming copper) bullet design is first, then velocity, and after that bullet weight. I think that is more significant than choosing between a 6, 6.5 or 7mm, etc.

Yes I think so. With a zero set to 200yrds you can ignore trajectory/ drop from 50 to 350 yards with a 90gr copper bullets.

Ormiston! That's almost next door. I'm in musselburgh. I love my .308 for is flexibility, but my 25-06 is a nicer rifle to shoot.
  8. Alps hunter

Hi and welcome. Stalking in the mountains sounds fantastic and very different to the forest and hills work I do. Roe worth a 30-06 sounds interesting.
  9. Hi From Scotland

Welcome, and welcome to the world of reloading! I got into it a couple of years ago because of the shortage of copper ammunition available in 25-06. .... and it just becomes a while thing if it's own !

Welcome 🤗. I'm sure you will have a lot of experience to share.
  11. .270 non lead

I think the world of copper bullets has moved on or developed rapidly over the last few years as lead is being phased out in a lot of places. IMHO some companies (Nosler I'm looking at you) haven't put the R&D in, but I don't think you will go wrong with Hornady, Barnes or Sako copper bullets. I...
  12. Sako Blades bullets - experience

Hi, I was wondering if anybody has experience and thoughts about Sako Blades bullets, especially in a home load but also as a off the shelf cartridge? I'm intrigued by the almost wave shape of the relief groves which I assume is to manage the pressure issues you can get with copper bullets...
  13. Sako s20 or tikka t3x

I would always aim to buy a good quality rifle, going used over new as needed. IMHO they are much more tolerant to different loads and ammunition types so you avoid endless round of 'these bullets don't group / don't suit my rifle', and the barrels last longer. I'm not a fan of Blaser, and...
  14. Experience with Hikmicro FQ35 and FQ50

Bruce, that's really useful, thanks. What's your view of the FQ35 v's the FQ50?
  15. Experience with Hikmicro FQ35 and FQ50

I don't mind at all ... All good discussion which helps me decide what I'm likely to do. I'm leaning towards them FQ50 I think.
