That's a real pity. I'm biased as I have a25-06, but it really is a great calibre for hunting as opposed to being focused on optimising performance at extreme distance ( such as PRC).
Yeap. For me (assuming copper) bullet design is first, then velocity, and after that bullet weight.
I think that is more significant than choosing between a 6, 6.5 or 7mm, etc.

I think the world of copper bullets has moved on or developed rapidly over the last few years as lead is being phased out in a lot of places. IMHO some companies (Nosler I'm looking at you) haven't put the R&D in, but I don't think you will go wrong with Hornady, Barnes or Sako copper bullets. I...
Hi, I was wondering if anybody has experience and thoughts about Sako Blades bullets, especially in a home load but also as a off the shelf cartridge?
I'm intrigued by the almost wave shape of the relief groves which I assume is to manage the pressure issues you can get with copper bullets...
I would always aim to buy a good quality rifle, going used over new as needed.
IMHO they are much more tolerant to different loads and ammunition types so you avoid endless round of 'these bullets don't group / don't suit my rifle', and the barrels last longer.
