As promised, an update on the above. A 'new' scope, a Hawke, was tried and everything was good. So, nothing more sinister than that. Coincidence or not, the aged 30 + yrs Leupold appears to have developed a fault at the time the rifle was in for the extraction issue. So, a new scope it is ...

Over the past year I have been in the process of selling all my big-game fishing gear. This is the final item to go. It is one of Star Rods classic big-game stand-up rods. They are hand made in the USA, their reputation and brand are second to none. It was purchased new by myself @ 30 years ago...

Thanks. The scope was correctly mounted. I'm not sure if it had been removed. Given the fault it was returned for, would they have to remove the scope ? Not sure.
