It's good to see another sambar hunter join the forum. I hope you enjoy your membership here.
  2. PLB suggested for all and sundry.

I carry a GME MT610G 406 MHz Personal Locator Beacon with GPS Multicoloured. 7 year life span with no ongoing fees/charges etc. Extremely simple to activate which is what is needed in a crisis/stressed situation.
  3. Labrador Problem -

Bowland blades said - Its not the Dog ! - I'd suggest this is likely the case. In my experience the owner inadvertently causes a problem which then compounds with the dog behaving abnormally and getting away with it which is compounded even more by the owners attempts to rectify the problem...
  4. Lads shot a few deer.

Thanks dartmoordog. You are correct. I did make an assumption about flat land hunting. The photos and accompanying yarns that I read in "Write Ups" led me somewhat astray.
  5. Lads shot a few deer.

There are several limiting factors when comparing UK deer hunting to Aussie sambar deer Where we hunt is not cleared, flat , private farm land. Our hunting is conducted on public and, in steep mountainous terrain which is heavily overgrown/encumbered with a variety of native trees, fallen...

In Victoria there is no formal upper limit quantifying how many firearms a LFO can have. The "15" is the arbitrary number which triggers more formal hoops for the 15 plus LFO applicant needs to jump through. In the post Bondi 2026 review of Victoria firearms laws by former police commissioner...

The UK unlimited number of firearms possesed is like it was here pre 1996. Now we can go up to 10 but more can be legally held provided a genuine reasom is given and approved coupled with stricter storage requirements.
  8. Logging shooting activity

deerlydeparted said - There is no legal requirement to notify the police nor log your shoots. Voluntarily nvolving authorities about your planned/post shooting activities runs the real risk of authorities liking these identifying reports and turning them from voluntary to being compulsory...

That's a lot of skinning for the fur/scalps for a bounty.
  11. Younger dog reaction to older dog death

Perhaps consider this. After Sika has passed just leave his bedding/blankets/toys etc in their night time bed. Sikas lingering scent will give Red some comfort and as Sikas scent lowly fades Red will become accustomed to him not being there any more.
  12. Nag shooting.

At a glance..... CEO of the Invasive Species Council, Jack Gough claims a big spike in the numbers of feral horses. Really......that seems to be an agenda driven ideological statement. Brumbie mares in the Kosciusko National Park generally only foal once every 2 to 3 years due to the harsh...
  13. Dog Ideosynchrasies.

Hi Steve.243 The Cavie 'nestingbehaviour is a classic - something I've seen in GSPs and Labs.Frantic bed-making only to sleep comatosed with all 4 legs in theair! Before I got my currentCav – a tri-colour - I had a Blenheim, got him by accident as arescue dog at 3 years of age. He never...
