  2. Best sling for a heavy rifle

My Ruger M77 has a custom Sako stock and weighs 12lb and I use a Z aim sling, although they've stopped selling them you can get a Z aim type sling from Deercentral..easy to carry it all day..tried just about everything but found this sling to be the best.
  3. Wanted: Planning ahead - want to get into deer stalking, never hunted before - Cornwall.

Yes obviously, I know that nobody should go out shooting ANY animals with a blasé attitude..I was trying to make a point without having to write an essay.
  4. Wanted: Planning ahead - want to get into deer stalking, never hunted before - Cornwall.

Buy yourself a springer air rifle and get out stalking rabbits for a year or two..all four legged animals are a blueprint and butchering a rabbit isn't dissimilar to butchering a deer..the basics anyway. But you've got to learn field craft to shoot them first..and obviously safe handling of your...
  5. Sold: Danum Blades Fallow Stalker

I bought this knife in early 2023 when I was booked onto my DSC2..since then I've used it 4 maybe 5 times and it has been worked on 3 deer maximum. The reason I'm selling is simply because all the deer I shoot are Roe or Muntjac..commercial forestry in the Scottish borders or woodland in the...
  6. Fair price for a butchered carcass

I get £75 for an adult Roe carcass..butchered and vac packed..steaks,fillets,shanks, a haunch, mince and stewing steak.
  7. Put venison on school dinner menu, campaigner urges

I've often wondered why one of the celebrity chefs haven't picked up on this..why do we import minced lamb when venison mince could be given to NHS kitchens, School kitchens and Homeless kitchens etc etc for a fraction of the cost. It's 'home' grown, ethical, healthier and virtually carbon...
  8. Did i get bitten by a tick?

You'd not feel a tick bite..occasionally you feel them crawling through hairs on legs or arms but I've never felt a bite..and I've had Lymes!! Thankfully caught it at the bullseye stage and a course of antibiotics sorted it.
  9. We all love dogs ... best puppy and best friend pics thread ? 😁

    Vinny and Milo..Italian Spinone.
  10. Unable to respond to farmers request for pest control

Wow..that's a bit harsh..and rude..the guys only being cautious for good reason.
  11. Unable to respond to farmers request for pest control

When the veggies/vegans start to starve or they realise that bringing a bunch of asparagus or an avacado half way round the world is really not good for the environment, then perhaps they'll change legislation again.
  12. Dsc1 & 2

I had to have DSC1 to shoot on Scottish Woodland forestry, which I do regularly but I did DSC2 for my own personal development..don't need it but no harm in having the extra paper trail..I have noticed however, that I get more permissions for having it.
  13. Can a friend use my rifle on his permission?.

If in doubt give BASC a call. They'll give you good legal advice..assuming you're a member.. or as above, speak to your FAO.
  14. Kydex or leather sheaths or both for your blades

Yes..or as i stupidly did a few weeks ago, i got back to my tent after a long day out on clear fell, bent down to climb in the tent and the knife handle caught on the tent and ripped the fly sheet..oh how I laughed (not)..hence,it now lives in my bag!!
  15. Kydex or leather sheaths or both for your blades

Recently purchased EKA G4 and took the belt clip off the kydex sheath..sits in my bumbag along with Bushwear Yool sac, gloves and S hooks etc. I always used to set out with my knife hanging off my belt but then I'd switch to putting them in my bag so now it just sits in there...
