  1. CenterParcs Cull?

I was there with my family two weeks ago and had exactly the same thought! Having been there previously I brought the thermal along this time, once the Subtropical Swimming Paradise closed at 20:00 we would go on a nice little stalk on the way back to the lodge. A good way of teaching the nipper...
  2. A swift follow (or fallow) up shot

Update: the expense of the extra round was totally worth it! Yum.
  3. A swift follow (or fallow) up shot

No, I had my hair neatly tied up in a man bun thankyou. :p Stalking is the only outing the creedmoor barrel gets nowadays, as the DIO currently deem it too awesome for use on their ranges. So rather than punching paper at 1000m it earns it's keep by harvesting venison.
  4. A swift follow (or fallow) up shot

Yes, it's the blob on the far right, just on the white bit of the coat. I didn't take better photos as I was rushing to get going with the gralloch, thinking that I would be dealing with lots of nasty green stuff sloshing around that needed to be outside rather than in. Fortunately this proved...
  5. A swift follow (or fallow) up shot

140 grain Norma Whitetail in 6.5 Creedmoor.
  6. A swift follow (or fallow) up shot

Yep, dead broadside-on. I won't take a shot if there's a hint of quartering. The round must have deflected, which hasn't happened before with this ammo; I'm still new enough to stalking that I suspect there are many 'firsts' still to experience...
  7. A swift follow (or fallow) up shot

It's a relief to hear that my instincts were correct on this one!
  8. A swift follow (or fallow) up shot

I made the most of a rare sunny, dry day on Saturday and went out for a deer. After electing to sit in a high seat for a bit, I was rewarded after half an hour by a fallow doe emerging from the treeline and making her way from left to right along the margin between the wood and the meadow. At...
  9. Quality Rifle Case / Bag?

AIM Drag Bag is my pride and joy. It's so well made and thought out. Wasn't cheap, but then I'd spent the same total amount beforehand on several Amazon specials and they've all broken in one way or another. Buy once, cry once is the saying I believe.
  10. Beginner processing setup

I've had fallow in it, with head and legs removed (which I do in the field for all deer, regardless of size).
  11. Beginner processing setup

For transport home I bought this plasterers bath: https://www.toolstation.com/plasterers-polyethylene-mixing-bath-165l/p64497L With the back seats down it'll fit in most car boots. Line the bottom with plastic gravel/grass grids and you'll keep the carcass out of any blood, plus it'll help...
  12. From Farm to Fork in 24 hours

I agree that the bigger they are, the easier it is to manipulate the various bits you need to separate during the gralloch. However, the last big fallow I shot I had to saw in half in order to lift it into the boot of my car! I'm going to have to spend a lot more on kit if I'm going to routinely...
  13. From Farm to Fork in 24 hours

Yep, the best way to improve is to do more!
  14. From Farm to Fork in 24 hours

Thank you, I'll do my best to supply more as I go. I still can't quite believe how lucky I am to have the means and permission to harvest venison as I please. I've had Roe and Fallow as well from the same meadow, so it seems I've fallen on my feet since starting stalking just over a year ago.
  15. From Farm to Fork in 24 hours

Thanks, it's kind of you to say. And lesson learned - keep the rifle closer when doing the next gralloch!
