I had a Sako 75 Stainless Synthetic in .243. Lovely rifle, now passed on to my son. Tikkas however are a much better option if you want to customise - huge choice of every component and accessory imaginable. Both Sako and Tikka are superb rifles and show the yanks how it should be done.
I do think people obsess too much with weight. If you are on a 12 hour hill stalk it may be relevant (although I`ve done a quite a few of those with an 18lb. tactical rifle and survived) but for most stalking and foxing outings I just don`t think it`s a big deal. Taking a good dump before you go...
I`ve had the Vorn Lynx for a few years. It hasn`t had a huge amount of use but has been out on quite a few occasions carrying either a heavy (18lb.) tactical rifle or a lighter (12lb.) stalking rifle. I really rate it. The build quality is very good and the ability to have your rifle on your...
All Tikkas guaranteed 1 moa so rifle type, weight, barrel length etc. not really relevant for a foxing rifle other than just your personal preferences and what you fancy. They will all go bang and drop foxes out to extended range.
A quick follow up - I`ve been getting some over-pressure signs on the odd cartridge so despite excellent performance and accuracy I am going to slightly reduce the powder load to address this. I`ll post my findings when proven.
I bought a UPR last year and am very pleased with it. It`s accurate, producing 0.5 moa groups and occasionally down to 0.2 moa at best. Mine is in 6.5 Creedmoor with 24" barrel, 20 moa rail and Tikka`s excellent set trigger. I use an Ase Utra SL5i moderator and for current night work an ATN...
Thanks for your help guys. I finally settled on 42.5gr of RS60 for my 24", 1 in 8", Tikka T3X 6.5 Creedmoor with 143gr ELD-X. Grouping .25 moa and velocity at 2731 fps average with ES at 27 fps.

I had a 26", 1:10" Proof Research Match barrel fitted to my 300 wsm by Andrew at Riflecraft to replace the original Tikka Super Varmint barrel that had done 3,000 rounds or so. Andrew`s work was faultlessly perfect in every respect. After a couple of hundred rounds of load development and...
