  1. AICS mag problem

Get a polymer ten shot MDT mag. They work well. Not expensive either. Recently a guy came with a 270 Bergara Aics mag that would not feed. We gave him a MDT 300 wm 3.715” mag which worked perfectly. I think Bergara have not yet mastered magazine making. Edi
  2. Any love for 300 winmag?

Sorry, missed this. Yes, she came as a Rem 700 Long range. Just about everything except bolt and action changed. We make stocks so that was easy. Proof Sendero Light carbon barrel made a big difference in weight. Rifle is balanced so that the COG is on the bore line and shoots fantastic even...
  3. Any love for 300 winmag?

The 300wm case does have a few niggles and maybe the 300PRC is overall the better cartridge. Saying that I am on my fourth 300wm which by quite a bit the lightest of them and the nicest to shoot offhand or resting. It has something to do with the overall build quality, stiffness, materials and...
  4. Carbon wrap barrels

Think they make them in-house. Pickert gunbuilder in Germany had one of his sons being trained with Andi Atzl and is using their process now in Germany using Lothar Walther barrels to wrap. I had a long chat with Andi at IWA. They have used our stocks in the past. edi
  5. Carbon wrap barrels

Malx, the Hardy Barrel is 20" sitting in the new E-Tac. Lovely setup. She does around 2712fps with 140 ELDM. I have taken deer at good distance with her. edi
  6. Carbon wrap barrels

We have a Hardy carbon that shoots like a surgical tool in 6,5CM, a Proof Sendero Carbon in 6.5CM that shot well from the beginning, also have a Proof Sendero Carbon Light in 300wm 24" that shoots really nice. For my kind of hunting and occasional plinking at longer ranges I don't think I want a...
  7. 7 PRC and 300 PRC

Wrong, look again. According to the Hornady website the difference is 565 ft/lb. edi
  8. PSE colour change

You did a good job on the sponge work. Only thing a bit off is the shine, all stocks get a shine after some use anyway. Well done. edi
  9. 7 PRC and 300 PRC

Hornady Data uses 24" with 7PRC as well as 280AI, 7PRC does 125fps more with 180gr than 280AI with 162gr. The energy difference at 300yds will be quite big. I would by far prefer a 22" 7PRC over a 26" 280AI for hunting. edi
  10. Chain saw sharpening

I just use a dremel. One must know what it should look like when finished.... edi
  11. Opinions wanted from tripod shooters.

I never got on with quad sticks, just too slow for deer or fox. I searched for tripod having the right balance between light weight and being stiff enough. Found this Weylland FX7 to be perfect for my needs. It can be carried one handed even when extended and is much more solid than some other...
  12. 7mm PRC - Advice on Custom Rifle Builders

My 300wm weighs in at 9lb including 4-16x50 S&B PMII. That is without mod. With mod she is fun to shoot even with 208gr. Probably my favourite rifle. Hitting rocks at 1200m. Just planning two similar builds with Snowy Mountain barrelled actions in 7PRC. edi
  13. Picatinny rail for a bipod HELP

Most E-Tac stocks have an internal aluminium plate internally in the front of the forend. 6mm thick, roughly 20mm wide and roughly 120mm long. One can drill and tap anywhere along this. The pica in the picture has a hole spacing of ~85mm and fitted with M5 screws. edi
  14. Artic rifle maintenance

Aerospace should have good lubes. +50 on the runway and -50 when up...... over and over. Rain at take off later frozen. I would chance Teflon spray similar to the one used on bike chains. MoS2 or Graphite also work as dry lubes. I would start with the firing pin. Can test things in a freezer. edi
