Hi there, just wondering if you have anymore info on this?, when I phoned nature scot the other week they were adamant that I needed a night licence to shoot marauding deer on my own land(at night). The fact they were marauding didn't seem to matter.

Hi folks, I'm looking at doing my dsc level 1, I believe it can be done in thurso?
Just wonder if anyone has done it there and who would be the person/company to contact to get the ball rolling?

Thanks for the replies, sounds like it would be best to get my level 1, and get organised for next winter to be 100% sure it was legal. As said there are plenty people about only too happy to pick up the phone if they hear a shot in the night
Am I right in thinking this is the part of the act that applies to owners and occupiers that clears you to shoot at night? Ive read it and there is no mention of daylight hours, which as you say is a green light
Don't suppose you have a link to any legislation stating marauding deer can be shot at night without licence?, I've googled but not found anything. Not that I doubt what your saying would just like to read any official documents. Many thanks
I tend to be quite Conservative tbh, most I've shot in one go is 3 I like to make sure they go down and stay down.
They are definitely damaging improved grazing have a load coming in onto anew field of grass every night, I've shot a couple at sunset but they are straight back in so the don't...

They are definitely marauding, also crossing a busy a road going from hill down into fields causing danger to traffic, we get numerous deer killed every year. Hit one myself a few years back
