Hi all,
Just had a .30-06 built on a Resolution Precision action + 22" Bartlein barrel with 1/11" twist.
Looking for some advice on hunting loads for it as I'm new to the calibre and to reloading. I intend using 150 gr heads.
All help gratefully received!
Thanks
Thanks guys, I'm chuffed with it. Massive thanks to Pete Carr for the stalk and letting me shoot such a nice trophy. I'm putting the story together for next issue of Sporting Rifle so won't spoil it by writing it here too.
Just back from East Yorkshire having shot a super Malform Roebuck. Great hunt and the best buck I've ever shot. Two of us shot four bucks in two days. Nice to see how the English do it!!
Just putting this out there to see what happens! I'm interested in doing a swap hunt, what would you be willing to swap me for a trophy Irish Sika Stag?
Hi, I'm a stalking guide in Ireland and we use rucksacks all the time for sika, I have two different ones, a Kelty Cache Hauler which is very good value for money and its lightweight. The second is a Bergans Powerframe 130 which is very comfortable with heavy loads. The Bergans is pricey though...
She only made it another 5 yards, camera couldn't take any more in sequence to show her falling. Would have been better quality but we couldn't get any closer comfortably.
I find the most important part of calling a stag is getting into his territory. If he is in cover with his hinds and hears you calling 500 yards away he is not going to feel threatened enough to leave them to come to you. Spend some time listening to where the stags are rutting and then...
Just a quick one to say hello. I hail from the southeast of Ireland. I'm an avid deer stalker, mostly sika but hunt the occasional fallow. Looking forward to getting involved in some discussions with you all.
Regards
IH
