  1. Available: Management Hunting Eastern Cape

Only just noticed you advertising on here Guy. Had a brilliant time last May and will definitely be coming back when circumstances permit. Another great package. Well done.
  2. 6.5 x 55 comparison

I kind of forgot about this thread and have just read some of the latter comments. In my defence I have shot a lot with my 6.5 x 55. I can honestly say that I have never missed with it and never failed to put an animal down with a single shot. Why? I enjoy the stalk. I enjoy getting so close...
  3. Boots or Wellies?

Wellies are much better and provide plenty of support and grip. I've started using short Hunter Balmorals and they're awesome in all weathers.
  4. any one advise a good knife?

Just a word in favour of the Falkniven H1. Not cheap but an awesome knife which keeps its sharp edge no matter what. I have used and abused mine for about 2 years and found it brilliant.
  5. Stalking sticks: Newbie question

I used to use b and q home made sticks in both dual and quad varieties though on my dual ones I bolted them together with a locking nut which was better than banding them with o rings from a stability perspective. I have recently bought a pair of Rob's sticks (see earlier posts) after my wife...
  6. Stalkers Split Sticks

Hi Rob, Received my sticks. They're brilliant quality and exceptional value for money. Can't wait to get a chance to try them out. Thanks do much for your fabulous service and workmanship. David.
  7. Waterproof Trousers for the Summer

Hello again all. I have all the kit for winter stalking but I have never managed to find a pair of summer weight trousers that I am totally happy with. The latest pair I bought are Harkila Grizzly Bush. They are perfect in terms of weight, silence and waterproofing but when I wore them stalking...
  8. All those lucky people who've passed DSC1

I also take exception to the comments about Britishdeer.co.uk I found it completely accurate, comprehensive and a real complement to the Manual. If it is inaccurate then the examiners clearly must have missed all of my wrong answers when I passed my DSC 1 a couple of months ago.
  9. Cleaning moderators

In my view the best advice is to remove it every time before storage. All of that gunk and gas is not good for your beloved rifle, even if you're not adverse to dragging it through the shrubbery to get after deer.
  10. Binocular, options

Go on fleabay and find yourself a pair of second hand ELs. You will never regret it.
  11. waiting for land check

I have a closed certificate issued by Merseyside. I enquired with the local constabulary in Scotland about the land I shoot and an officer called me today to say they do not issue closed certificates up there and do not check land but he knows the land I shoot and it is fine by him. He confirmed...
  12. How to cape a deer

That sounds very interesting. I'll see how I get on with my early attempts and let you know if I'm up to the task Bill.
  13. Bino's

I also bought mine on eBay and had a very similar experience with Swaro. Their after care is brilliant.
  14. Bino's

As I said in my first post on this subject, all of this advice is useless unless you go and look through the binoculars. I am no banker but I looked through a lot of bins before I bought mine and I think Swaro ELs are the best by an appreciable margin. You may disagree but most people can see...
  15. Mod isn't the same as rifle

Many thanks all. I'm not bothered about a little extra noise.
