  3. Crimping issue

Just an update for anyone searching this themselves on the internet, as I searched before posting and couldn’t find an answer. It would appear the brass (Hornady) was the issue, not soft enough would be my guess, as I had no issue with the 243 Lapua brass. Anyway changed the brass (Norma) issue...
  4. Hornady CX in 270

CX reloads 90 grain (could be 95 need to recheck), like a shotgun pattern. Just trying the 80 grain outfitters, some good reports, so it maybe that I have to reload in 80 grains.
  5. Crimping issue

Bullet has the same groove around it as mine, but there is movement. The brass must be ‘bouncing’ back on me slightly.
  6. Crimping issue

Just tried with once fired brass, backing the crimper off at different rates etc, exactly the same. The 243 I load I exactly the same way, no issue at all and probably fired more. The only difference is 243 is Lapua brass and the 270 Hornady brass. It looks like the brass is the issue (or the...
  7. Crimping issue

The brass is sizing down, as I have to hold the bullet in the cartridge (so to speak) and let go as it enters the die. So the brass holds the completed cartridge prior to crimping. As has been said, I may be over thinking it, but the bullet can be moved in the cartridge at this point, but not...

I have an issue crimping 270 loads, 243 no problem, in that when crimped the bullet moves in the cartridge and isn’t solid. It a Lee crimping die and I’ve tried re-setting numerous times but get the same effect. The bullet is crimped but isn’t solid in the cartridge. Has anyone come across the...
  9. Hornady CX in 270

Using them in home loads, grouping well. 130 grain. I wish the same could be said for the 243!!!
  10. Hornady CX in 270

Yes, I’ve used the 130 grain in .270, and they seem to group as well as the lead jacketed bullets. Now, .243 in CX, well that’s a different matter!!
