The goretex in my Meindls is totally stuffed and the water pours in....I wear a thin pair of cotton socks under the Sealskinz....they are always bone dry after a hard day in very wet conditions. Highly rate the Sealskinz socks.

If phone signal is not a problem, then the Tractive device is an excellent and affordable option. Very accurate live mapping on your phone (an app).
For areas without signal, Dogtra Pathfinder2 is a great product, or if your budget allows then go for the Garmin
