  1. Border Force stop issuing export permits

That's exactly how it was for us earlier this month.
  2. Sauer 100 Pantera - 300 Win Mag - Near end of life

I don't know what you use it for, but have you tried heavy round nose bullets? I had the same problem with a much loved and used Ruger 77. It started to open up with spitzers so I tried 220gr Hornady RN . Shrank the groups markedly and very effective on game.
  3. Which calibre lever action?

No such thing as overkill. Dead is dead. Unless you are using artillery !
  4. Oradour Sur Glane, scene of a 1944 SS massacre in France

I thought the Resistance tried to delay SS Das Reich from reaching Normandy in time to affect the Landings. HIndsight is wonderful . I visited Oradour some 15 years ago with my daughters. To say it was upsetting is an understatement. All over the occupied zone are memorials to Heroes murdered by...
  5. Scopes? Time to move on from the dark ages?

If wind is a factor in a shot on deer, should you be shooting that far ? Wind is certainly not predictable nor consistent..
  6. New Press Recommendations

First press I bought was a Rockchucker in the early eighties. Guess what! Still using it now !!! Built to last.
  7. Flarin

Good luck! I'll join you !
  8. Safari recommendations.

I loved Zambia. A school friend emigrated there in the seventies and I was lucky enought to hunt with his fiancee's father. We hunted west of Kafue NP. Mfunta I believe. Also hunted Kafue Lechwe with Nicky Blunt at Lochinvar. Hunted with Sten Cedegren in Chiawa. As you said we were warned...
  9. Safari recommendations.

I hunted Chiawa ,GMA, next to Lower Zambezi NP in 1983 when it was wilderness. There wasn't much in the way of river activities then., but walking along the Zambezi was awesome.. It's all changed now unfortunafely.
  10. Safari recommendations.

I have always enjoyed Kruger ! Etosha is different but also enjoyable. Depends on what you are looking to see !
  11. Shooting through brush?

Never come across that. 270, 7mm are quite popular in Limpopo.
  12. Shooting through brush?

I remember Guns and Ammo carrying out tests in the 70's using various calbres and bullet styles . They used a "hedge " of wooden dowels in front of a target. The conclusion was all types of bullet deflected equally thereby disproving the myth of so called brush buster cartridges.
  13. SAKO facory ammo - Soft Nose Bullet Damage

It's caused by recoil, the front of the mag impacts the noses as the rifle recoils. Often made worse by weak magazine springs. Even plastic tipped bullets can show this. It's often a good idea to remove such rounds from the mag and use them for practice. I always put a fresh round on top when...
  14. Switch from lead to non toxic rounds

Jacketed lead bullets don't have exposed lead . The jacket is a copper alloy . I just shoot both in all my rifles without cleaning in between . Just check your zero !!!
  15. Travel

How long is a piece of string ? Many on here travel the length of the country or travel abroad for stalking/ shooting. Southern Africa is most of a day travelling !!!.
