  1. How soon after harvest?

While I agree with most of what's been said above, I find that the main problem around here is that everyone cuts their grass at the same time - consequently, the foxes have so much ground to choose from that you can waste a lot of time searching for them. When a solo field is cut though, I like...
  2. What do you do when you're not stalking

Well done - but for God's sake, don't sell the welder - you'll still be needing it for other jobs!
  3. What do you do when you're not stalking

When I bought mine the chassis was rotted right through, so I knew from the start that it needed a new one. Beginning with that (galvanised, of course), I built it from the ground up as effectively a new vehicle. Consequently, I didn't have to go through the pain that you're now experiencing, so...
  4. What do you do when you're not stalking

If I'm not out shooting, I'm also known to run this up the strip every now and then!
  5. Fox caller

If you find that your local foxes are ignoring your caller, it'll more than likely be because someone else has tried using one (badly) in the area and has only succeeded in educating them.
  6. Disposal of fox carcasses

Has anyone ever seen any legal regulations concerning the disposal of fox carcasses - if so, would you please post a link or some other reference to them?
  7. What do you do when you're not stalking

You too? I'm sick of the sight of mine - I bought it as an MOT failure more years ago than I care to remember, and have made more or less every single part which can corrode out of stainless steel - which as anyone who knows Land Rovers knows, is almost the entire damned vehicle. It's not far...
  8. Fox shooting distance

As alluded to a couple of times above, my take on it is that it all depends on your local terrain. It's easy for those of us with 'close' country around us to forget that some people live in places where 300 yard shots are a necessity, not a choice. My other comment is that it's interesting to...
  9. Disposal of fox carcasses

As far as I know, they haven't done trichinella testing for quite some time - it's echinococcus these days (fox tapeworm).
  10. Fox calls, what do you all like to use?

While it may be possible to determine whether a vixen is milky if she's simply sniffing around, if said fox is charging in to your caller, it's impossible to tell what sex it is, let alone whether it's milky or not.
  11. Fox territories

A couple of nights ago we were asked to check a farm where young lambs are about to go out. After putting the caller in place, my shooting partner shot two big dog foxes there within seconds of each other, without moving a step. On the other side of the valley where I was, there was a fox moving...
  12. Dedicated Foxing NV- New or Secondhand

Agreed 100%. Both I and my shooting partner made the move to PVS-14s many years ago, and neither of us have any intention of changing. No faffing about with endless button pressing - simply switch on, bang.
  13. Foxing fee.

    Fee? What's that then?
  14. Any foxes shouting??

Yes - although instinct commonly seems to defy logic, it often delivers! :)
