Absolutely don’t need a thermal, but my enjoyment of being in the countryside was enhanced when I got mine. Not just stalking but any time. There is just so much to see that becomes apparent through the thermal. Astonishing what goes on that is usually hidden from our poor senses.

That was my experience as well. I tend to walk a lot so much prefer the ease of using a saddle clamp rather than Arca Swiss. Great on a long lens pain on the rifle in the dark. Your mileage may of course differ.

I have been range finding by eye for the best part of 60 years, practicing in later years with a Leica rangefinder and have reached the point where I can now in a featureless field estimate the range of a roe to plus or minus 150 yards, most of the time.😁

#1 Well after having an abysmal start to the year with five foxes in the scope since January and nothing down I eventually shot one! So account opened with a dog, although I know it won’t be believed as I forgot my phone so no photo. ☹️
