  1. Advice for starting reloading

ask nicely, and I am sure there is a club, or a local person who reloads, and will let you observe them, or possibly a club will run reloading courses. Try and get at least couple of people to show how they do it. For what its worth, by simply talking to there reloaders, almost everyone does...
  2. 6.5x55 fox 123gr and n135?

Please don't persist with this, it's just asking for trouble. And for about a hundred quid you can buy a tub of n560 /n550 or so. When something goes wrong, it's going to seem a very expensive mistake for the cost of a tub of powder. Use up the n135 in a 223 or something, or even swap it out/...
  3. Sold: BR4s

Hi do you go to Bisley ever please ?
  4. Wanted: Speer 7mm 145gr BTSP

I think I do Ill check for you .
  5. 270 win reload

I find n165 better and its kinder to the barrel, you dont need any extra speed with a 270, never had a runner! Sierra 130 about 58-4gn, sami length . good luck
  6. New to reloading, in need of some guidance please

You are within 1%, so bank it, as a very rough rule, I notice, it's harder to get more consistency the faster you push the bullets, it seems accurate, why worry. Let the foxes worry whether they are hit by a 3245fps or 3275fps bullet. I suspect they are past worrying at that point ! Good luck
  7. RELOADING SAKO FINLIGHT 20" - 270 WIN - 130 GR BULLETS

I use n165, around the 58.8 gns. Although my rifle is a sauer, 270's tend to be not overly fussy, from what i have seen. Although if you look at the Viht website they do give data out. However should you speed check what comes out of the barrel, they seem very optimistic, maybe they have wd40...
  8. For Sale: 1200 Fiochi SR & 1000 Rem LR

HI There please can i take the 1000 LR Rem primers . I can meet at Bisley, Im there most weekends
  9. Recommended bullet weight ?

lapua 167 scennars, and if you check the Viht chart, N150 at the higher end of the scale shows "most accurate" load. good luck
  10. RWS Small Rifle Primers

Silly question, but have you made sure the barrel is still torqued up correctly. I had a rifle seem to suddenly lose accuracy, gun smith found it was slightly "unwound". Also try some factory, or just new brass, it does harden off and loses neck tension. And if that happens to 20% of your...
  11. 270 win

As a fellow 270 lover, yes you can burn out your barrel, ....but you would need to take it to the range, fire 50 rounds , and carry on doing this for several years every single week. My first 270 was inherited after my father, who did occasionally use it on a range, and after a further 10 years...
  12. 17 hmr observations.

I got rid very quickly, not for case issues, but really because I was shooting in the hills around Wales, so usually windy, and rain etc. In the right conditions it was fine, with extra range over a .22rf, but preferred a 22 hornet, or usually 223 mainly because of weather . Also , it was...
  13. Short cases causing misfires

You are not alone, I have had the same 223 for over ten years, never a problem, and when using Magtec srp ive had about 2 or 3 per 100 fail to go bang. When in the field its not a problem, but on the range in a comp, it isnt funny Try, ,,,,,anything else! good luck
  14. Load Data Resources for all Calibres

Also sorry to mention, but looking at "older" Viht data, and new data, they have changed, does this mean if you use an old manual your loads are OK but if a new one is used, and the max show is a couple of grains down, is you old recipe suddenly dangerous ! eg; new Viht data show a 308 , 167 gn...
  15. Found these in my scrap brass box

I has same problem with 6mm br, I think modern chambers with a larger drop in diameter from the fat base of the case to smaller neck dont help! I binned the die and went for a bushing one instead,,,,,although i never really worked out why it was happening, which was bloody annoying !
