  1. Best take down .243 rifle?

I’ve got a K95 ultimate in 6.5 creedmoor. Highly recommend it: -balances great (but differently ofc) with or without a moderator -great trigger -easier / softer cocking slide than the R8 -nicely designed stock: the comb is higher on the ultimate than on the classic wooden stock models -I’ve...
  2. 6.5 creedmoor norma bondstrike - feedback on performance

Hi everyone, I already some shared feedback on the performance of the bondstrike in 6.5 creedmoor on roe and red deer (see message above). Here’s some more info, in case useful, from a recent stalking trip in France during which I shot 7 roe. Rifle is a Blaser K95 with a 52cm barrel. Muzzle...
  3. Rucksack with rifle holder - Advice Wanted

Great info, thanks everyone. Do any of you have any experience with the Blaser ultimate expedition backpack? You don’t have such quick access to the rifle, but you do have the built in carry pouch for roe, chamois or suchlike.
  4. 6.5 creedmoor norma bondstrike - feedback on performance

Going by the data from the handy Norma ballistic app, the 6.5-284 or the 6.5 PRC Bondstrike at 300m are basically identical to the 6.5CM & the 6.5x55 at 200m. It’s the same bullet with more or less powder behind it 👍
  5. 6.5 Creedmoor Copper Ammunition

What’s your barrel length? I’d have thought the superperformance would be faster than 2885. Hornady quotes 3050 from a 24 inch barrel
  6. 6.5 creedmoor norma bondstrike - feedback on performance

Hi everyone, I’m writing to share feedback on the Norma Bondstrike in 6.5mm creedmoor (143gr), following roe / red deer hunts over the past months. I’m using a Blaser K95 with a 52 cm barrel. Here’s a quick description of each situation: Roe: -broadside at about 110, heart shot. The deer ran...
  7. 7mm-08 Rem barrel length

I’m coming late to this, but just to confirm the 20 inch barrel seems to work well for the 7mm-08. I haven’t used a chronograph, but I get 10cm drop at 200m when zeroed at 100m with Norma tipstrike 160 gr. That’s flatter than I expected. As for the rifle, I’ve used a wooden stocked Steyr...
  8. 6.5 Creed or 7mm-08 whats your prefrence & why?

Interesting, I didn’t know that - I assumed that because the CM is American, and that they seem to prefer 140gr, manufacturers just hadn’t gotten around to loading heavier bullets. For me the clincher is being able to buy commercially loaded heavier rounds. Rightly or wrongly, I feel happier...
  9. 7mm08 or 6.5 cm

The fact you can now get factory loaded 160grs in 7mm-08 is a big advantage, I think. I use these Norma tipstrikes for hunting: Norma TIPSTRIKE 7 mm-08 Remington 160gr. And cheap Remington or Prvi Partizans for practicing on the range…
  10. 7mm-08 for Deer & Boar?

Years too late but for what it’s worth I hunt boar (and red deer + roe) in France with the 7mm-08 and love it. I switched from the 7x64 when I upgraded rifles back in 2010. The 7mm-08 has considerably less recoil than the 7x64 but it’s no .243. I shoot 160gr rounds: it’s far more powerful than...
  11. 7x64 & 7mm 08 barrel length

I’m coming to this thread 12 years late, but it’s an interesting one! I’ve shot / hunted with both calibers in 20 inch barrels. The 7mm-08 has a reputation for being better suited for shorter barrels, which makes sense given the smaller powder charge. It’s not something you really notice though...
  12. 6.5 Creed or 7mm-08 whats your prefrence & why?

For me the big advantage of the 7mm08 is that you can get factory loaded 160gr rounds (Norma). Maybe it’s just psychological but I feel better hunting boar with 160gr than the 140gr which seems the standard for the 6.5mm CM. That said 156gr is the standard heavy load for the 6.5x55, so you’d...
  13. Rifle “ cover”

Clever. I’ll try that on mine. I also removed the zip to make it easier / faster to get the rifle out. It’s still a good snug fit and it simplifies the design, at least for me.
  14. 7mm08 or 6.5 cm

Yup, when I switched from 7x64 to 7mm08 back in 2010 you could only buy 140gr, at least where I was (France). More choice now.
  15. 7mm08 or 6.5 cm

Hi, just in case it’s useful, Norma has two 7mm08 loads. The tipstrike in 160gr, which is my go-to hunting round, and a new one, the 150gr whitetail, which I’ve never tried. I’ve used the tipstrike on wild boar and roe deer so far; it’s very effective. It’s a heavy-for-calibre round, given...
