Mine has exactly the same mark on the barrel/breech face. It looks to be the print from the front of the LH guide rail on the bolt carrier.
My gun has probably less than 2k rounds through it and functions fine with subs or anything I have run through it.
I'd go with recoil spring. The one on the actual bolt. Whilst you have a buffer tube and buffer, it's not used with the .22 kit.
Are you sure the 'dings' on the breech face are not raised powder burn residue? The black parts look like built up burnt powder residue. Have you tried scraping it...
I would also say a battery powered one to match any existing power tools you have would be a good choice. I've got the little DeWalt one, and a couple of 5ah batteries and it is surprising what it will do

I fitted a regular Mossberg pump action foregrip torch, but shimmed the tube part out for the smaller .410 action tube. Then the switch is where your forehand is. Looks stupid, but works
I had the same thing a couple of times with a V22 maybe 15 years ago. That was a .22 AR15 style rifle too.
I think mine was down to the original owner 'lightening' the hammer. He has made the front face concave in an effort to lose weight, and it appeared that the part that contacted the firing...
