I’m all in favour of firearms cert holders with serious mental health issues or suicidal tendancies being brought to the attention of the FLD, but the worrying thing is that for some of these people, shooting sports are their only salvation... like a coping mechanism, something to look forward...

It’s all changed now... referees need to send a separate form, independent of the application. They can do it by email.
