Always remember my first lesson as a youngster re a vice, 'never leave it tight, someone might walk into it'. When not being used, over fifty years later its still a few turns loose. 'Always buy the best quality tools you can afford' was another. They knew their stuff back then.
I cant speak for others, but never had a shed without a bench and a vice. Actually, two. One large, to hold a barrel, receiver or stock, the other small for fine work on small parts. Oh, and a hand vice. Ideal to get a grip on small parts that need all around attention.
True Mungo, I know several hunters who use it for small deer, and there are effective loads for the job. But then again, is it then doing a job already done by other calibers? When I say one trick it is referring its long range accuracy, which it does very well. Bring on the .260 Rem.
Good grief, this is a well attended forum. Fact is I have not bothered with shooting forums for several years. Even helped run one long ago, and a mod on another. Glad I signed up.
So, pretty much the way I saw it. Lack of bullet variety on offer, added to better marketing of the 6.5 creedmore. Although also used in hunting the 6.5c seems to be largely a one trick pony, long range accuracy. Shame its still banned from the longer military run ranges. I know a dozen shooters...
I cant be the only one who sees the .260 Rem as an overlooked caliber? It seems to me whatever the 6.5 creedmore provides over the .308 was already offered by the .260 Rem. Introduced in '97, popular with benchrest shooters I just think its a great hunting cal. Did I miss something?
Thank you BC. Seem a nice group.
I may also mention I spend time with several hunters, going through loads, checking zeros, working with various sights, dots, LPVs etc. Stalkers here in the UK, but also those who hunt elsewhere, even game in SA.
Well hello. Based in Cambridgeshire, worked with guns pretty much for 50 odd years. Many different ways, from teaching to manufacture, working with museums and various other rolls. Retired now.
Hunting mostly in the past, Europe and US mainly. Getting a little on the older side now. All time...
