  1. Buying shot shells with deer lethal pellets

Roe. You say 20 metres max. Okay, it is suppose to be close in and fast.
  2. Buying shot shells with deer lethal pellets

Okay, so chokes are okay for buckshot. I was thinking of finding 1's in 3" express loads for 12 ga. And patterning. I will try scientifically to pattern with differing chokes. And then I won't worry about the Brennekes choked. It would be very interesting and responsible to shoot a group with...
  3. Buying shot shells with deer lethal pellets

Thanks all, yes, get the shot shells sorted here on a shotgun certificate and buy the Brennekes there. I know that they should be a heavy loads(3 inch in 12 gauge) and, I think, no choke, make sure the full cylinder is screwed into the barrels of the shotgun. In this case it will be my over and...
  4. Buying shot shells with deer lethal pellets

I have a friend who wishes to invite me on his French shoot next year, if this is possible with the pandemic etc. This particular shoot only allows shot for deer or Brenneke for boar all out of a trusty shotgun at under 50m. Can I purchase deer lethal shot shells in the UK on a normal FAC? or...
  5. Basc thetford is it any good

Yes it is very good, but, as per a previous stalker, you do have to take your chance when it comes. I have been out more recently on two lots of double outings and have had deer both times. I think the BASC people involved are great too.
  6. Planning Permission required for deer larders on agricultural land?

"It's not quite as simple as that, I don't think. Depends on what the usage is, and how long it remains static I believe. However, if the use can be broadly classified as agricultural then it should be OK, but minimum holding size may still apply." Yes, I think if the holding is 5 ha. or so it...
  7. Deer management on properties next to Sites of Special Scientific Interest

I won't worry then. I will be improving the general habitat for lots of species by taking out a few deer, and letting the land wild more anyway.
  8. Deer management on properties next to Sites of Special Scientific Interest

I was thinking of buying a smaller property, 6 acres, that is still big enough to shoot deer safely on from a high seat. The land is quite wild with some trees and has deer frequenting it, mainly muntjac. The property bounds an SSSI and is open. As controlling deer is forestry management, I do...
  9. Planning Permission required for deer larders on agricultural land?

Okay looks as tricky as first thought. I may just need to go for planning permission. One question would be if the larder were made in a transportable container, if that would qualify as a temporary structure? I somehow doubt it. If I do go for planning permission, it would be a legitimate use...
  10. Planning Permission required for deer larders on agricultural land?

All good to know. No it is a site of about 2 ha. I am looking to bid on in an auction. I will invariably need planning permission. I am not too concerned about doing this myself and going for it and more than likely getting it, but if I could avoid that altogether, then it would be nice. Yes...
  11. Planning Permission required for deer larders on agricultural land?

I write asking if anyone out there has had to get planning permission for erecting a deer larder on agriculturally designated land? I would have thought it would be permitted development? This is in England. I am not planning on a huge facility, just a small larder with entrance carcass...
  12. How do I change my email address on my account?

Does anyone know how to change your email address on the Stalking Directory. The change was forced on me. Please advise. Regards Western Woodsman
  13. How to update changing email address on The Stalking Directory?

It must be easy, but how do I update my email address please anyone?
  14. Barn owl landed on my head

When roe stalking in May I witnessed a barn owl diving on a mouse or small critter only to be pounced upon by a fox. That was the end of the barn owl. As it was not my land I did to have any authority unfortunately to nail the fox as I was instructed only to shoot deer. If I had, we would have...
  15. Misfire on Homeloads

I had a misfire one time while stalking, luckily the beast was down, and I was only trying to finish him off, but I had to wait a good thirty seconds at least to chamber another round. I have come to believe that this was caused by the primer not being seated quite to full depth, and the whole...
